    Aurelio out for another month

Fabio Aurelio will be out action for up to a month after sustaining a hamstring tear during Sunday's 3-1 victory over Manchester United.

Liverpool FC Head of Sports Medicine and Sports Science Dr Peter Brukner has confirmed the defender is facing four weeks on the sidelines after assessing the injury at Melwood.

Brukner told Liverpoolfc.tv: "He's got a significant hamstring injury. Unfortunately his body lets him down. He always play well when he's fit. We've been managing him carefully because he's not been playing twice in a week, but this just came out of the blue.

"He had a minor adductor strain a few weeks before that. We rehabilitated him and he trained all week with no problems at all.

"He'll be out for a month so that's a blow. It's a partial tear. It's what we call a secondary degree hamstring. It's similar to Martin Kelly's and these are three or four week injuries.

"He's obviously very down. It was a sad sight to see him walking off the pitch. He's frustrated because he was playing well on Sunday. He was looking forward to getting a run of games but it wasn't to be."

Brukner also revealed that Daniel Agger is making slow progress in his recovery from a knee injury and admitted Thursday's Europa League clash with Braga could come too soon for the Dane.

He said: "Daniel had a nasty kick on a joint to the side of his knee. It's an unusual spot to get an injury. They take time and he's a bit of a slow healer. He's still not 100 per cent so we'll have to see if he's fit for the game this week. But it's more likely to be the following week."

Liverpool will still be without Martin Kelly (hamstring) and Jonjo Shelvey (knee) for the trip to Portugal as the duo continue to step up their rehabilitation at Melwood.

Brukner added: "Martin has a similar hamstring injury to Fabio. He has a partial tear of his second degree hamstring. But he's jogging again now. He's making good progress but he probably won't get back before the international break.

"So we are looking at the game after the international week. That'll give him five weeks which is a good period to rehab him.

"We are also happy with Jonjo's progress. He's working hard to strengthen the tendon that's been damaged."

Heard something about BBC making a statement to the Premier League, but not a complaint !

It means they are scared of Fergie... If they had made a 'complaint' the PL would be obliged to act on it I imagine. This way they can object without having to back themselves up formally.

If we all complained to the BBC would they then have to complain to the Premier League...
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

FFS he gets away with murder Fergie, if that had been Rafa for instance he'd have been up in front of the FA already and stoned to death.

So are you telling me that you haven't, in the past, compared Lucas' tackling stats with Mascherano's? Because I'm sure you have.

And in my opinion, pass completion rates can be extremely misleading. I've seen Biscan have a higher pass completion rate than Alonso for example. Fouls as well. Surely they don't take into account whether it was a correct decision or not. This would surely skew the statistic.

Agreed. I don't get why the BBC wouldn't make a formal complaint just to stitch him up. Unless they want to use that as leverage to maybe get him to talk to them again.

I don't know why they would be scared of him? He already doesn't speak to them. There's not much else he can do, is there?

                          She gives a good 69

Seriously though, stats really don't tell the story at all compared to actual optical representation. There's passing a ball and then there's passing a ball. Both might reach their intended target but someone like Xavi will give it with perfect pace and trajectory while there are those that just 'do a job'.

According to stats, Nicolas Bendtner is a good striker but I don't need stats to tell me he's absolute **** and a total detriment to the team

Yes and they were in direct relation to claims that he couldn't pass and claims that he constantly fouled all the time. They were in context, the comparison with Mascherano were simply to give them some context against a highly rated player.

I'm pretty sure Alonso's average pass completion % would be higher than Igor's.

I was only looking at location of fouls.

On the topic of location of fouls - we seem to regularly give a lot of freekicks away wide in and just before the final third. Has anyone seen an analysis of this. I've been wondering for a while (certainly since the start of last season) whether it was a hang over from the Houllier and peak Rafa periods where we were so good in defending set pieces. My point is are we still making a deliberate gamble (that we will handle the set piece better than a player running at a defence without a great deal of pace) which is no longer sensible?

For comparison last season (and the season before) United seemed to make a lot of deliberate fouls near to the half way line - which looked very cynical - to prevent attacks building up knowing that referees were not going to book them very often because they were United.
