Taiwo can't be that good, a miles past-it Heinze was preferred to him against the Mancs last week.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

You'd prefer PFK? give the lad a new contract and sell him if it doesn't work out IMO.

Seen him play roughly 8-10 times.. Been pretty good from what I've seen, not too sure the reason for Heinze playing last week but unless we are willing to pay big money he's a very decent option.

He's a top class footballer. That goal against Chelsea had a little bit genius. He's always pretty cool calm and collected on the ball and I don't really recall him making any glaring errors or getting skinned in a defensive role. It's because he's a good footballer first and foremost that he's able to defend well ie can read the attacking thoughts of the opposition.

It's a shame but I think he's always been here on good terms even though his injuries have been mighy frustrating.

Tough one, it's a question of who's less ****. Surely we can do better then both of them.

We came into this season with a crock in Aurelio and PFK, next season if we replace Aurelio with quality then I'd be happy for Insua to play backup for a season. We could sell Konchesky and assess the Insua situation next January or summer, at worst we'd get rid in January still be in a better situation than we are now. Which is having no left back at all.

                he was diabolical.

Don't give a **** how young he is, but he'll never make it.

As for Aurelio, can't disagree with what others are saying - quality player but ridiculously injury prone.

A real shame to say the least. He's such a nice bloke and good pro by all accounts too.

Aurelio has only started 3 consecutive games once in the last 2 seasons
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

So, in the spirit that Roy Hodgson has now won as many away games in the league in the last two seasons as Kenny Dalglish has won European Cups, Fabio Aurelio has now strung together more consecutive appearances in the last two seasons than Arsenal managed passes last night.

I think that's clear and hints at something really rather profound.
                      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Roy Hodgson thought Poulsen and Konchesky were top PL players - I'm not sure that relying on a manager at another clubs judgement is the way to go. That said Heinze has been horrific when I have seen him in recent seasons so perhaps you have to draw a line somewhere.

I've seen very little of Taiwo so can't add anything to the subject really.

I think it was a mistake of Roys to resign Aurelio given his injury record, good player though he is. We now have him on a two year contract and I doubt he has much sale value. If someone came in I'd let him leave but I wouldn't make any active effort to get rid of him as he can be a useful utility player.

Aye but Didier Deschamps is no mug, unlike Hodgson.

I haven't seen enough of Taiwo either. Seems a bit Riise-esque to me, not sure about him.

A fair point about Deschamps - but he could have revived Heinze for all I know (I thought he was very good pre-injury at United).

I'm still in the bring back Insua camp. With Carragher, Kelly and Johnson who can cover, and some decent enough reserves, I'm not sure that a big investment (fee or wages) at leftback is necessarily the way to go. In the long term we will need someone but like a lot of teams in the division next season will clearly be one of rebuilding. I'd rather we focussed our efforts elsewhere to be honest.

In the last 5 games he’s started, Galatasary have lost every one. The won 5 of the 6 when he didn’t start over the same period.

He did start for 3 straight wins just before that run though.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

So essentially they are a streaky team.

He was far from the finished article when he was with us but there was something about him and I think he is/was worth persevering with. He would also represent a low cost option which is likely to be important if we are going to be looking to rebuild the squad elsewhere.
