Aurelio is easily our best passer, can play centre midfield as well. Miles and miles is a bit ott IMO, they're different players holding down different positions.Originally posted by PTP View PostHmmm but Van Persie is miles and miles a 'better player' than aurelio - imo, i know they play different positions but van persie is top class, aurelio is just goodAre we winning?

Aurelio is a class player, but he's never really fit.
If he was a striker it would be a different ball game. Just to have him on the bech and to bring him on for 15 mins at a time would mean he would keep his place in the squad. That's why strikers tend to cost more and generally earn more.Forwards.......

Neh, We need 2 good quality LBs that can realistically challenge for first team at all times and are available for all games.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostSo? Aurelio is easily our best left back and is IMO a vital member of our first XI. When fit.
It's a difficult one and I completely understand why people want to get rid, but as said above I'd buy a top LB and have Aurelio/Robinson as understudies.
Aurelio is to injury prone thus unreliable and though Robinson had a good game yesterday it's little too premature and too risky to put our faith on 17 year old kid if our first options gets injured or needs rest.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

I don't think it's too big an ask to have Robinson as 3rd choice. He's 18 in September.
If Aurelio is relegated to 2nd choice then he'll naturally play fewer games and that will give him more chance of being fit and available.
We have a good few areas that need strengthening - no way are we going to go out and buy two left backs. Not a chance in hell. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I think that Johnson will probably be our main back up as LB cover next year. In fact I think our fullbacks will be 2 from: Johnson, Kelly and New LB for the majority of the season fitness permitingThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I'm not so sure we won't. Spend money on the first choice e.g. Enrique or Baines and then get 2nd choice on free like Taiwo or Wendt. Aurelio can still be used sporadically as either LB or a midfilder if need be and Robinson is the future and at his tender age I'm not sure we should be relying too much on him anyways.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostI don't think it's too big an ask to have Robinson as 3rd choice. if we sign a good left back a proper first choice left back, and we get a good season from him - ie he stays fit, is consistent and we get say 30 league games i'll be esastic (bearing in mind we won't be in europe and i reckon we can rotate him for cup games etc)
so if our full back options are
Johnson
New Left back
Kelly
Flannagan
Robinson
Aurelio
I do think we should be fine - basically both right back and left back would have a first teamer, cover, and the young lad pushing through and challenging for a game.
I have slagged aurelio for his fitness issues, but if we had a proper left back in there - then for say 10 games a season coming in as cover/rotation etc - well fabio is good for 10 gamesi own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

But if we were to sign two - ie from mostar's post Enrique and Taiwo - i'd have no complaints at all
- especially if it doesn't affect us strengthing other areas too.
Get a
first choice left back
a left mid
centre mid
forward
sorted first - and if we still have the money, then add a centre back, attacking mid and left back tooi own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do
