I think we need to be cold and pragmatic, really like him as a player but enough is enough , I am beginning to come to the same opinion with Agger aswell we need players we can rely on.

We need a first choice left back and then good back up.....We had it right when we offered aurelio a pay as you play deal and i think he's a cheely cunt for rejected it....especially given that we released him on a free and from what i could tell there was zero interest from anywhere.......until about a month or two later we panicked and offered him a proper deal....


We know he has the ability - but he has never in his career been fit.

So sign a proper first choice left back and then the decision really depends on what money we have left once we have sorted other areas...

If wwe feel that Jack Robinson, is good enough to step up and cover say 15 games a season, and Aurelio can offer cover in say 10 games - then we should be ok just signing one left back and have those two as cover.

However - if we aren't quite sure if we can rely on robinson yet - then i'd sell or release aurelio and find a a left back to compete/cover with the new left back

He's a top guy and I really feel for him but the only way I'd keep him is on a pay if you play deal. Obviously, even then a new No 1 left back/wing should be brought in also

bring in a top class left back and then we can use Aurelio sparingly and we might actually get more out of him. Could be a great option from the bench. We would also then have Robinson as the youngster who could come in if those 2 were injured.

Swapping a striker mid-game is easier to accommodate than swapping a LB.

So? Aurelio is easily our best left back and is IMO a vital member of our first XI. When fit.

It's a difficult one and I completely understand why people want to get rid, but as said above I'd buy a top LB and have Aurelio/Robinson as understudies.

This season he's started 12 games in all competitions and only finished 7 of them, last season he started 13 games and finished 7 of them.

So in 2 years he's only been fit enough to start 25 games, and only fit enough to finish 14 of them. As good a player as I think he is he just isn't dependable. If we have him we need someone else available because he's only fit enough to start ~25% of games.
