    Thompson is 33 now.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

LFC can today confirm that Steven Gerrard has undergone successful surgery on his groin and will be out for up to four weeks.

The decision was made following consultation with a specialist.

I haven't read the whole thread so I'm not sure if it has been mentioned here. Is this groin injury the same that has been plaguing him for the last 2 years or so? I can't remember Stevie having injury concerns apart from being out for a couple of weeks/1 month such as this, all due to groin related injuries.
          Are we winning?

Thats ok, hopefully he recovers a bit quicker and is back for the quarter final of the Europa providing we get there!

It looks like he's been playing with this injury for quite some time now (18 months or so), so hopefully this will fix it for good. If it's the right groin (anyone know?) it would certainly explain why his shooting has been off for some time.

i think it is mate. for the past 2 years almost every time gerrard gets injured its cause of his groin issue.

I suspect this operation would have been performed in the summer anyway.

Sounds like we should have him back for the latter stages of The Europa League, if we make it.

We aren't playing a lot in March (not sure when we play next after the Europa match on Thursday), so it makes sense to have him out now. It seems this has been planned for quite some time. I thought he had a previous operation on his groin, some 18 months or so ago, so it's a bit strange that this hasn't been cured yet (if it's related).

If he's been injured, he shouldn't have been playing. He has been off the boil the last few games.

If Steven Gerrard returns a month from today he will miss just three games and will be on the pitch for our home clash with Man City.

Good that Gerrard is getting the surgery, as we miss his horribly and need him back to 100% fitness. Boys need to step up with out Gerrard now, hopefully we never seen the combination of Lucas/Poulsen/Spearing ever again. Horrific!

Just makes not signing Charlie Adam all the more frustrating.
