Joe Cole looks set to bring his Liverpool career to an end with a £3million move to Tottenham.
The 29-year-old will reportedly be reunited with Harry Redknapp as he looks to revive his dwindling career after netting just three times in 32 appearances in all competitions.
Premier League newcomers Queens Park Rangers had mulled over a move for the playmaker in spite of a campaign ravaged by inconsistency and injury, following his fanfare arrival as the Reds' marquee signing last summer.
But Tottenham have acted swiftly to secure Cole's return to his native London following a difficult 12 months on Merseyside which has seen his stock plummet alarmingly since leaving Chelsea.
Reports emanating from London suggest that he will undergo a medical next week to finalise a return to the capital, which could pave the way for Luka Modric's potential move to Manchester United.
I wonder how many of those have as sub in the last 5 mins
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
It was more like when Newcastle signed Owen, he was the trophy Purslow never won for us that he could hold up as being a success. He has been a gigantic waste of money.
a shame really, I really thought he'd have been a decent signing for us. Glad to see him moving on if true and hope it works out for him as he's not moaned or complained about his situation at LFC.
Hopefully we've seen the end of these free transfers of players coming towards the end of their contracts and awarding them huge wages and signing ons.
If true, does this not say something as to the direction Spurs are heading? Bargain bin signings have not been their style in recent years, have they. If I were a Spurs fan I'd be mortified at this signing. Cole's best years are long behind him.
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

Same here. Things just didn't work out for Joe and us and it would be the best for all parties involved if we can all move on. Hopefully Harry will make that happen

following the sale of the club to John W Henry last October.
Privately, Henry was fuming that an ageing player had been handed a lucrative four-year contract worth £90,000 a week when he aimed to invest in youngsters.
Since then, Cole has become a weighty burden on the Liverpool wage bill. He has cost them a total of £4.1m in wages so far, which is £2,470 for each of the 1,662 minutes he has played in the Premier League and Europa League for the club.
