When he joined, I was partially excited. Can never get too excited about English players because they are perceived as better than they really are. Nonetheless, he strikes me as someone who is so disappointed in his play that he is not here just to pick up a pay cheque. Apparently, his team is and always has been Liverpool. I have no doubt that if he didn't think he could have done well here then he wouldn't have signed. But he thought he could. As I would have done - to play for my team, Liverpool, at the latter stages of my career? Yes please. A money move? Bollocks. It isn't working out and he knows that (injuries not helping him).
