Rodgers will have worked with him before, so he might have an idea of how to best employ him. He was terribly unsuited to the dino-football offered up by Roy, and there was little hope for him last season.

You never know, he might be effective after a full season of football.

Given that cole came on a free, he must be on huge wages. I'd be very disappointed if the club decided to retain him as an experienced head in the squad. Much rather kept dirk or maxi and try to get cole off the wage bill and replace with younger talent.

We could probably get a decent fee from west ham. If we keep him and he plays ****, he'll be gone on a free transfer end of next season.

Not sure if its because we want him, more likely we are refusing to pay the majority of his wages next season although you would have thought they would have a few quid now Hazard has gone.

Phillip Eclair (sp ) on talk sport was saying not sure they could justify his big wages for the return they got.

            Not surprised after reading...

The 30-year-old midfielder made 38 appearances for the French club last season, scoring four goals since joining the club on a year-long deal on transfer deadline day last August.

But the midfielder managed just three goals [for Liverpool] and two assists in a largely disappointing campaign for the former Chelsea man,
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I wouldn't be bothered if we gave him a chance this season, Hodgson's tactics and a lack fitness was a problem for him in his first season, but hopefully those things won't be an issue this time. Given we are still likely to be paying a big chunk of his wages I'd give him opportunities next season and see how he does, if he's as bad as he was previously we can look to off load him in January, I'd imagine a few Premiership clubs would take a punt on him then.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I'm sure West Ham would have him back if they could afford his wage demands.
                Oh I don't know.

Depends on his motivation doesn't it? He might want to sit out his contract with us as his last massive deal, an investment for the future.

If he wants to play and be a central figure for another team, he's going to have to accept a lot less than he's getting here, unless we do another percentages deal to get the majority of his wage off the books.

We were run by drunken clowns, weren't we?

At 90k a week supposedly, he's simply being paid too much to just be a squad man. He either starts or he's need to be sold. Only option is for him to take a pay cut of he wants to stay with us.

Getting a few mill in terms of fee was never the issue but finding a club that is willing to pay his wages was.

Only way WH or some other club will agree to sign him up is if he takes a cut or we continue to pay the portion of his wages for the duration of his contract with us.

please gents, stop saying lets have cole/aqualani back next year

Cracking Season? compared to Stewart Drowning maybe. Allegedly lille are paying him about 40k a week, with us the other 90. I don't think they want to keep him and pay him decent wages regardless of the spin of us wanting to take him back.

He wanted to stay a few months back, pretty sure he would stay out there if he could

We don't want him, and have not decided to keep him. Lille made no offer, so there was no decision to make. Best we can hope for is West Ham or someone taking him on loan with use paying over 50% of his wages again.

We all know who to thank for that.
