Maxi and Cole are quite similair though - Maxi was the better performer last season and was prbably on less money.

Maxi and Cole on opposite sides in a 4231 might have been possible at a push, but it would have been a bit well, ploddy.

Not saying Cole would have to play all the time, but he'd be a better option to bring off the bench than Kuyt or Downing based on their form this season.

Also means we could sell Downing and bring some cash in to boost the transfer kitty.

I have to agree with Craigy - I'd take Cole back I think he'd offer more than both Kuyt and Downing this season.

Seems like a lot of people have short memories about Joe Cole. When he was here he was ****ing woeful both on the pitch and in regards to his fitness and conditioning. When he started a game for us after 15 minutes he was usually gasping for air, hands on hips.
I also can't remember him putting in a single good performance for us tbh but that's just my opinion.

Ligue 1 is his level.
