We should never play Lucas, Poulsen and Spearing in the same midfield, it's far too negative and lacking in creativity and let's face it Poulsen and Spearing just aren't good enough.

I think Spearing is one of the examples of how our youth system has failed, he's 22 now and has played maybe 10 games for us and maybe 10 games out on loan. He had been touted as a prospect for a while, but he'd only played reserve games so that became his level. We should be loaning kids out as soon as they look decent in the reserves, not letting them stagnate, they will never improve unless they are pushed, and this will only happen if they are playing regular football. Spearing has maybe 20 games experience by the age of 22 he's never going to make it with us, IMO it's doubtful if he'd make it as a Premiership regular with anyone (in the immediate future at least).

not just our system, think you can look at every other top team and see how there yoof have also stagnated.

they all have to go on loan imo. we cant afford to do what we did with lucas and play him while he was not very good till they get better.
ship all decent players off to championship/premiership give them a season playing regularly and assess from there.

I know it is a problem but other top clubs do seem to loan more of their players out, and to better clubs than we do (although maybe this is just my perception). Spearing is 22 with ~20 first team appearences for any club. By the same age Lucas had much more experience than Spearing does now. IMO it's too late for him, to make it with us, by this point IMO he should have had a couple of seasons worth of experience out on loan, and would be a much better player for it. That way we would know what his chances are of making it with us, because at the moment we know little more than we did 2 or 3 years ago, he hasn't really developed enough in that time.

think that is relative to how good our youth players our....the likes of wilshere, sturridge, vela, cleveley are good enough to play in the premier league where as our lot are not!!

still agree that spearing should have been sent off for a season at least, the only way the kids will get better is if they are playing regularly. Pretty sure though if he wasnt local he wouldnt be here

First season I know, but goals aside I don't see what the hype is.

Not saying he's ****e, but for me he's pretty average plus some goals.

We had to keep rubbish young players like Spearing and Darby because of the homegrown quota for CL and now PL.
Obviously we didn't HAVE to include them in the squad but Rafa chose that option ahead of not having anyone.
Remember when they plus others were included and Hyypia got left out!!

There are times I feel uncomfortable re negative comments about one of our players and in particular a homegrown player . Spearing wont make the grade we need to compete re top four and winning the title . Just cos he came through the youth system dont mean he will turn out to be top notch- not the lads fault and sure he gives his best . We got Kelly at the minute who looks like a good solid pro and I recon he will be huge . So,,,last night AND a few other matches have shown us who at the club needs to be moved on . Kenny will , with the backing of his gaffers , do what has to be done come summertime . Dont forget -Kenny loves this club and will do whats best for the club even if its difficult . I strongly believe we are starting to improve - last night showed us we are still a work in progress . Onwards and upwards mates and if ya feel down re last night ??? think about what Dirk did to the mancs a few days ago .

Spearing and Poulsen should be sent home and ordered to stay there until they are sold.

J. Cole is a shadow of a player he once was.

The squad is as thin as a Macbook Air.

Some major clean up in the summer hopefully.

Dunno, we were doing better with Carroll on. I'd say it shows how badly we can't rely on Kuyt - by himself at least.
