Bigtime, sure he's exciting but he was given the runaround yesterday v West Ham, give a penalty away v Birmingham, give a penalty away v Fulham, should have been sent off v Man Utd and commited a comical error that cost them a goal v Stoke. We've missed out on absolutely nothing on the evidence so far.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostCant defend for toffee, though.

If he's nothing else, at least he's reliably fit!
Martin Skrtel is in line to play every minute of Premiership football this season.
If Skrtel completes the 90 minutes against Aston Villa tomorrow, he will be one of only two outfield players to have played every minute of every league game in 2010/11 (Everton's Leighton Baines is the other). It's a remarkable feat and Kenny Dalglish has paid tribute to the defender.
"It's a fantastic achievement but we have to wait and see if he's playing on Sunday or not! No, I wouldn't like to spoil that perfect record," said the boss.
"He's been fantastic this year and really grown in stature. He's been a real asset for us.
"He gets credit from the people who really matter - the people here. He wouldn't have played every game if not."RIP IRWT

Martin Skrtel is the type of player that separates championship teams from pretenders. Soft in the air, erratic, poor decision making and needs to be constantly "marshaled" by his partner to look good.
He'll give you a stretch of games that can justify that "we shouldn't sell him" argument but as long as he's a constant presence for us, he'll hold us back.
There's no chance we're winning anything with Carra and Skrtel as our first choice pairing. Harsh but my opinion.

Read about this yesterday in the zoo or nuts, while i was on the toilet.
There was also a few other facts about Liverpool, one being that not long after he signed for us, it was revealed that as a 15yr old Luis Suarez broke a refs nose with a headbutt after being sent off.
We have produced more top-flight footballers than any other provincial english city, since the premier league started back in 1992-93
Pepe Reina kept his 100th clean sheet in december.
John Aldridge refuses to call torres by his full name and calls him FT.

You're perfectly entitled to your opinion, but i'd have to disagree with ya.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostMartin Skrtel is the type of player that separates championship teams from pretenders. Skrtel's had a few rocky moments this season, but who hasn't in the Liverpool squad? It's been a turbulent season for everyone on and off the pitch and certain players have suffered as a result. Skrtel's one of them.
However since Kenny took over and everything was more settled around the Club, Skrtel's been in excellent form. West Ham away was possibly his only poor game.
Long before this season, i think Skrtel's proved to be a more than good enough player for Liverpool. You can say he only plays well with Carra but i think that's nonsense. In the few games he's played alongside Agger they've look very assured together - FA Cup tie at Old Trafford being a good example of this. Skrtel played well alongside Hyypia as well.
If we're gonna say the likes of Carra, Johnson and Gerrard's poor performances should be excused because of a rough few yrs then why can the same not be said for Skrtel?
We need another centre back that's for sure but we shouldn't be looking to get rid of Skrtel. No way.Last edited by Rudo; 21-05-11, 09:40 PM.
