Liverpool vs Man United (FA Yth Cup 1/4): Match Thread
I was suprised (from what I saw second half) how little influence Suso had. You would expect him to make the step down from ressies to 18's and practically walk it but he did next to nothing in the second half. All the positivies in attack came mostly from Sterling and Coady.
Suso did very little and kept making the wrong decisions when on the ball.
Was Roddan that number 8? Christ he was bad. Poor kid.
Missed the teams being read out and assumed the left back was Robinson...even looked like him. Glad to find it wasn't - he was crap too.
Yeah Roddan was number 8. Felt sorry for him. Totally out of his depth.
Smith was the LB. Got absolutely done for the second goal.
I thought that Adorjan did well, I'd not watched him play much before, he's not bad.
To be fair they've got some good prospects too. I ****ing hated their number 6, he seemed a total prick. Morrison is scum too. Did you see their LB? He must have been about 6ft 5!
Thoroughly enjoyable day out.....my lad loved it which was fantastic. He even joined in the booing of United players especially during the penalty incident
Took a detour via the club shop after and couldnt resist getting him the full home kit with his name and number 9 on the back
Indoctrination well and truly complete
Disappointing result especially as they only seemed to have 3 chances. Their fans and players were a disgrace....but to be expected really. Some of their players were huge but noone really stood out for them.
Roddan, Smith and the keeper looked out of their depth for us and Suso is never a right winger. Impressed with Adorjan and Sterling today and Coady was pretty decent until he lost his head. Players looked well gutted at the end.

I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06
Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Manchester United beat Liverpool in high FA Youth Cup victory at marred as four are sent off and away fans mock the dead
Four players were sent off and six fans ejected from Anfield as the simmering tensions between Liverpool and Manchester United at senior level spilled over in an FA Youth Cup game.
By Rory Smith 4:51PM GMT 13 Mar 2011
Stewards were forced to eject the visiting supporters after a flare was set off in the away section of the ground, while the mood of the game altered as a minority sang a number of chants mocking the Heysel and Hillsborough disasters.
The game came just a week after Kenny Dalglish's first XI swept past Sir Alex Ferguson's league leaders in a game marred by controversial challenges from both Jamie Carragher and Rafael da Silva.
Ferguson had branded Carragher's tackle on the Portuguese winger Nani - which left the player with a gash in his shin so deep his bone was visible - a "disgrace" after breaking his self-imposed media silence this week.
So strained are relations between the clubs that even in an under-18 quarte-final tie referee David Coote was called upon to dismiss two players from each side as United recovered from two goals down to set up a two-legged semi-final with Chelsea.
The hosts, managed by the former Barcelona coach Rodolfo Borrell, seemed set for for victory thanks to goals from striker Adam Morgan either side of half-time when defender Stephen Sama was sent off for bundling over United captain Ryan Tunnicliffe in the penalty area.
Paul Pogba - the midfielder signed in controversial circumstances from French side Le Havre - converted the spot-kick but Coote judged him to have feinted during his run-up. The player, in accordance with Fifa's rules, duly received his second yellow card of the game, despite furious protests.
Larnell Cole reduced United's deficit with the retaken penalty before delivering a pinpoint cross for Ravel Morrison to fire home. Morrison scored the winner five minutes from time with a spectacular volley in front of the Kop.
Coote, though, was still required to dismiss Liverpool captain Conor Coady, an England under-17 international, and United's left back Tyler Blackett after the two clashed off the ball in the dying moments of the game. Coady was left with a bloody nose after appearing to aim a kick at Blackett. The two were kept apart as they trudged from the field.
Coady, Cole, Morrison and the Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling are all rated as among the brightest prospects in the country, but neither Borrell nor his opposite number Paul McGinniss will be happy at seeing such a lack of discipline in their sides.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
I enjoyed the day but was a bit pissed off with the behaviour of some players from both sides. This was a ****ing youth game for god's sake. It's not hard to see why their elder couterparts invariably turn out to be the ****s they are if this kind of **** is tolerated at 17/18 years of age. Was impressed again with Raheem and Suso. Both VERY comfortable on the ball even when surrounded by 2 or 3 defenders. I can see them and one or two others making it to the first team squad. Good turnout too. Kop virtually full as far as I could make out .
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.
