You're living in a nice part of the world lads (albeit a slightly backwards one )

Strangely though I've met a few people over the years who have spent a considerable period of time living in Oz and loved, it but then had an overwhelming desire to come back here.

Weirdly my aunt falls in to this category even though she was Aussie born and bred

It took he a long long time to go back after my parents immigrated to Oz when I was only 3. When I went back I felt a real belonging when I did 1st go back and continue to do so now. Although I can not see the day when I would go back to live there for an indefinite period like

If you've been there since three, you'd be making a lot of compromises for sure.

I'm very fond of your country and I'm not sure if I was settled there that I'd be fussed about returning here. Although there would be alot of things I'd miss.

Whether I'd miss them enough to up sticks and return after a long time who knows, but as I mentioned I do come across people from time to time who have done that.

I do miss the history, convenience and Chinese takeaway (decent stuff) but really what else is there? I have the beach 2 minutes down the road, rainforest 20 minutes down the road and the internet at home. Bliss

My missus just booked tickets back to oz for us in november. We're heading home after 4 1/2 years here in the UK. Stuff I miss the most is the good food, good coffee, the sunshine and (believe it or not) good customer service.

Not looking forward to LFC matches being in the middle of the night though.

Australia is the best! I have met so many people where I work who are travelling from overseas and most say they never want to leave Australia but simply can't afford to stay on a student visa. Most of them are from all over Europe (Denmark, Sweden, Italy etc)

Australia is way overpriced right now. The cost of doing business is one of the highest in the world, our currency is massively overvalued, our housing is inflated and we're a long way to get to.

Apart from all that we're still an amazing country.

Mate I've known plenty of people over the years who can't settle for whatever reason but it's often about missing the family. My wife's from London and moved out here on her own leaving 3 sisters and her folks behind 20 odd years ago. She just knew England wasn't for her and always preferred the heat over the cold. It's been harder for her since having kids and wanting the kids to get to know her side of the family and stuff so we skint from going back so often now

                        Melbourne mate.

I hear the cost of living has sky-rocketed in the last few years or so. Mostly to do with housing demand (at least in Melbourne). Otherwise, having lived in Germany, Cyprus and the UK, I would have to agree that Aus is the ducks nuts.

You quickly learn to love it. Nothing like a bit of drama in the weather.

Never been to Melbourne. Wouldn't mind going there for a weekend to go to a few clubs. Sydney is my place and always will be but. Here and were SB live are really God's country. Except Sydney is cooler.
