Wilson is not a left back for a start, every game he plays there he is shocking. I think maybe he can turn into a quality centre back but he looks **** scared in a position he doesn't know how to play.

Same here. Pretty much nobody showed up with the exception of Carroll. He is not nearly match fit but clearly had the will and desire to make a difference today but it wasn't to be.

Not surprised we're out, although I did think we'd lose on away goals i.e. 2-1 result tonight.

Things learned from both legs:

1. Poor defenders (Soto) giving away stupid penalties when there was no need will cost the team.
2. Glen Johnson should never be played as a RB ever again.
3. Glen Johnson takes too many touches and barely got a cross in.
4. Joe Cole takes far too many touches and tries to show-off rather than a simple pass.
5. Kuyt is useless at staying on-side, the number of times he was called off-side (almost all correct) was embarrasing for a so-called professional.
6. There was no sense of urgency or threat all game. On the counter attack too many of our players always look to pass backwards rather than carry on the attack - ruins the threat allowing their players to get back and defend.
7. No one really played well apart from Carroll.
8. Some players really shouldn't be at the club any longer. In fact, the only players I think we should definitely keep are: Reina, Suarez, Carroll, Kelly, Agger, Skrtel, Meireles, Gerrard.
9. It's depressing watching the team play so well against Chelsea & United and them watch them in the Europa League - almost like a completely different team even though there's only a few changes.

Too many below standard players are our problem. An that's not only Hodgson's signings but some longer term sins.

When Stevie is out we are lacking a creative midfield to speak of and the passes are just not precise enough.

This was another 94 minutes of almost exclusive ball possession without creating more than a handfull of chances.

I hope Kenny has a good plan for next season, because this one is well an truly over for us.

I was sick to my stomach watching Carra hoofing ball after the ball, almost at every occasion he had the possession as our midfield was none existent today..

I have said if for ages. You simply can't play with player that can't play free flowing football. Then you will be found out. Play with players in all positions on the pitch that can play free flowing football. All eleven positions.

The Carra and Skrtel type of defenders is on the way out. Now a central defender must be a very good passer and have very good technique. The fullbacks must be quick, very good passers and technical. The midfield players must be able to act as playmakers and be good defending. The strikers must be much more complete than just 10 years ago.
