this has more to do with the combined lack of talent and depth in the squad seasoned with a lack of passion and will from most players.

Been saying it since he signed, Meireles is not good when involved in the midfield battle, he "needs" to be played higher up the pitch utilizing his strengths his runs and shooting. He is for the want of a better word, a bit of a pussy. Once he is kept away from the rough and tumble he is great.
