Firstly its the midfielders job to MOVE and make space and when they get the ball in positions they pass it and move againOriginally posted by Arn View PostIt is his job. If the central defenders isn't good enough with the ball then it takes the pace out of the attacks. It is his job to deliver a quick pass to a midfielder, Lucas in this case, before Lucas is being closed down.
No movement means fewer or no options so yes he then has to carry it forward
The problem today was that a lot of the midfielders and one of the fullbacks put further pressure on our two centrebacks by constantly cutting the ball back and then passing back. At times both Cole and Johnsson et al had acres of space to carry the ball into yet cut back and passed it inside or backwards. The one time Johnson did do that he created the chance for Meireles
Thats ****ing criminal
I know you have an absolute hard on for Carragher but blaming him for todays performance is stupid even by your usual high standardsBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Riise and Aurellio are both much better players.Originally posted by Arn View Post
If you look at the last ten years then Insua is probably our best left fullback. Don't say much because of the lack of competition but he was still our best left fullback the last 10 years or so.
Criminal to get rid of him the way we did. Look at what mess that created. Many players being forced to play out of position thanks to that loan.

He cannot even break into Gala first squad FFS but he would be our best LB in last 10 years.
Insua probably would have made the difference today offensively but he is a far from good, solid LB.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

It is correct but should he just have kept the ball and passed it along the back 4 or backwards like our 4 midfielders didOriginally posted by Mostar View PostI certainly knew you would jump on this
Who said anything about blaming Carra?
I only stated that he hoofed the ball time and time again and correct me if that is not the fact.
Carragher is guilty of that but today I'd be crucifying others ahead of himBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Tactics. Outnumbered in midfield and our midfielders took the safe option under pressure too often. Actually looked more dangerous when we bypassed midfield horrible though it was to watch. Meireles poor in both legs, something to do with playing portugese opposition? Plenty of other poor too over both legs. Should have changed tactics, but still could have done much better if individuals had stepped up instead of hiding. Collectively got what we deserved.

I'll try. For a start I don't think anyone played well and I think there was a lot of 'trying' going on, albeit utterly ineffectual. I really didn't see Johnson and Carroll be any more effective than anyone else or appear to be trying harder than anyone else.Originally posted by Parr_Zee View PostIf you'd like to elaborate, I'll try to answer. Do you think Kuyt and Carra played well, or that Johnson and Carroll didn't try?
TBH I thought Dirky put in his usual shift, ran his socks off etc and breatherd some life into the LFC corpse. I also saw that some of Carra's hoofs were pretty accurate. Although there were way to many sideways and backward balls he needs to have someone to pass to and the problem with the TV is that it's sometimes difficult to see who's offering themselves - as far as I could make out not many of our lot were making themselves available. So I really wouldn't call their contribution any more pathetic than any other of our players. They were all pretty ****e.

Can't agree with that. Riise was good going forward but **** defending. No positional sense at all. Insua was better going forward and better defending.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostRiise and Aurellio are both much better players.
Aurelio is probably better going forward than Insua but worse in defence.
Insua a more complete left fullback than them. If Aurelio had been able to stay fit then it could and would probably been a different story.Stop the cyberhate
