Kenny has really struggled tactically in European games, no tempo, no width, no real attacking intent in any of the games.
And I'm sorry but bringing Spearing on when we need a goal while leaving Pacheco on the bench was a shocking decision.
I don't care if Pacheco has been the worst player in training for 2 weeks straight he is still much more likely to make something happen than Spearing.

Going out doesn't bother me, going out after showing no interest or attacking intent and not using all our attacking options off the bench really pisses me off


Edit: Valid point about Ngog, he may not be brilliant but he is quick and offers a threat in behind, playing him with Carroll would have stopped Braga playing so high and would have given us more space to play.

however the selling of players to pay off debt is the root cause. bodge was a carcrash in the transfer market though.

- were the tactics right?

Like i said, there's not one player in the Braga team that i'd want at Liverpool, yet we still manage to lose to them. WTF.

Interesting on how opinions changed after the game. When the line up was announced many commented how they liked the attacking formation etc and now Kenny got tactics wrong..

Let's face it. He is not a miracle worker. We have a ****ty squad and he cannot turn turd into gold. As simple as that.

Not that I don't have a few criticisms (I think we made changes far too late for instance and I really think we should have pushed Johnson into midfield given he's at least got some pace) but fundamentally whichever way you play a ****ty hand, you still have a ****ty hand.

Suarez/Carroll is designed as a partnership. I don't think any team with Suarez in it is going to resort to just hoofing the ball.

It's a **** squad, of that there's no doubt and for months i've been saying we need a big overhaul in the summer.

Despite all that, we still have a better side than Braga and should be beating them over two legs.

I like Carroll, but it concerns me that having a big lad up front is an excuse to hoof balls from the defence. We did this far too many times tonight, it's so predictable. We lacked creativity in the midfield and pace on the wings. It's not the end of the world, we need to focus upon our slim chance of getting into the top four now.
