That is the issue, he doesn't perform in his role, he would be a great Championship player, he isn't good enough for our ambition and we lack the squad to carry him.

I suspect the problem is that he's not suited to being a lone defensive midfielder. Not sure that is 'unforgiveable' but it certainly is a limitation when a/ he's asked to play that role and b/ no one else who is fit in the squad is capable of playing there (Aurelio isn't having his 5 minutes of yearly fitness is he?).

I think Lucas makes a good few of players look better than they are.

He's done ok imo. There are other things going on defensively, especially individual errors, that have led to some sloppy goals. Add to that, Reina having a bit of a poor attitude in goal, imo.

Again, attacking wise, if we could put away some chances, we would have sewn up more wins by now and Spearing's performances wouldn't be such an issue.

They would, he doesn't cover, he leaves too much space, his positioning is poor and his tackling is poor. Good defensive cover leads to less errors in the backline. Just look at the difference in our results and defensive stability since Lucas' injury, 2 defeats with Lucas, 10 since he was injured.

Im surprised at the level of dislike for Spearing. Hes not been fantastic, but hes not made lots of mistakes.

As Ive said before, he is a decent squad player. So Im happy for him to stay.

squad player, never a starter. We paid nothing for him whereas likes of Downing,Carroll & Henderson we forked out millions and they've done **** all. Big culprits this season than Jay Spearing.

Considering the lack of first team football througout his career, I'm surprised he's not complete and utter dog****. He's done well with the hand his been dealt with.

There are other players who have comparitively been given silver spoons but have failed to produce this season. Those are the players I have an issue with.
