    1) Short term he is, but which of us would rule out the prospect of a coach staying a short period, but winning us the title in that time?

    2) He's not exactly a favourite with us lot, but you can bet he would be if he won a league title for LFC.
And I agree with both those responses.

Still don't see him coming to us though

Neither do i mate, i think that ship has sailed, if it was even ever mooring, that is

If not for Kenny, i'd still want Mourinho here though.

If you strip away all the histrionics with him and look solely on his abillity as a manager then there probably isn't a better manager out there.

I do worry about the manager situation as this season is done and we really need to be preparing to get going straight away in the summer for next season.
I really don't want to see us fannying around and missing out on targets or having to start again with a new list of potential signings and not getting them due to this not being sorted qiuckly enough.

Fair point but the targets will & should have been identified by Comolli - irrespective of who the manager is
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

So what are you saying? Kenny has a blind spot for teams who have names starting with B and W?

I can see how that might prove to be a problem long term. In an ideal world we need a manager who has the ability to adapt to the whole alphabet
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Despite my great admiration for Kenny I think I think it would be wise to reserve judgement. We have improved big time under Kenny and I actually think of the 3 away losses in the league he and we could be excused for all 3 of them.

Blackpool came to early and against the hammers and yesterday an already stretched squad suffered some severely disrupting injury setbacks.

My big worry has been in Europe. I know we couldn't call on our best team in each tie but despite that and against really weak opposition we were mostly dog ****.

No worries then as we'll not be in Europe next season

the thing about maureen is yes he is a very very good manager and i take the point about he does spend money but he does win. managers have spent money and not won.

                    however why does maureen win?

because he chooses his jobs carefully

now do we really think that we fit in his criteria at the moment?

There is more chance of Hodgson being re-appointed than Mourinho taking charge at Liverpool. It will never happen.

Only 2 realistic options IMO. 1 - Kenny and 2 - Rafa. Take your pick.

LIVERPOOL are preparing for a summer revolution after owner John Henry admitted the strength of the club’s squad is even worse than he first feared.

Henry revealed the quality of the playing staff was a major concern during the process of heading Fenway Sports Group’s £300million takeover of the club in October.

The owners have subsequently started their rebuilding programme by sanctioning the January arrivals of £35m record signing Andy Carroll and £22.8m strike partner Luis Suarez.

However, both Fernando Torres and Ryan Babel departed during the transfer window for a combined £56m, forgotten man Charles Itandje has also left while senior squad members Paul Konchesky and Brad Jones have been allowed to leave on loan.

Players such as Emiliano Insua, Philipp Degen and Nabil El Zhar are already being loaned out while continuing to draw money from the Anfield coffers.

And while there will be an exodus in the close season as the club’s owners aim to prune the wage bill, Henry acknowledges new arrivals are required given the threadbare personnel exposed by Liverpool’s recent injury crisis.

“The worst surprise (upon takeover) was the lack of depth in the squad,” said Henry, principal owner of FSG. “Our biggest concern in taking on this responsibility was this issue and it was a bigger issue than we feared.

“There was a huge multi-year payroll for a squad that had very little quality depth.”

Henry added: “Our number one priority is to win the Premier League title.

“That is what we take with us each day to work as the force that drives us to excel.

“If we can accomplish that we will have put ourselves in a position to be successful on all fronts including Europe.

“Success is winning championships. It is nothing less than that.

“And when you win a championship – and we will – success isn’t measured or accomplished by winning once.”

Given the injuries, particularly in defence where Daniel Agger, Glen Johnson and Martin Kelly are sidelined and Fabio Aurelio is only now close to a return, Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is considering calling up young defenders Jack Robinson and Jonathan Flanagan to the first-team squad.

Director of football Damien Comolli, meanwhile, has reiterated a busy summer is in store at Anfield while claiming last month’s emphatic victory over Premier League leader Manchester United has led to an influx of interest from leading players.

“There will be movement (in the summer), that’s for sure,” said Comolli, also speaking in FourFourTwo.

“We are very attractive for a lot of players because of what we did in January and a game like that (against United) is fantastic publicity for us around the world.

“Since the day after I was getting phone calls from agents telling me that their player would love to come and that we are going to compete next year if we get it right.

“We are attractive to a lot of top players and we want to bring top players to this club.”

Comolli also claims other clubs have been impressed by the promise and positivity that has been engendered at Liverpool in recent months.

“There is vision,” said the Frenchman. “There is fantastic backing from the owners. There are people who are passionate about the club.

“There are people of very high quality at the Academy, both in the staff and on the pitch.

                            “I think it’s a fantastic project.

“I travel around the world and people are telling me that it is a fantastic project, there is a really good vibe about the club since January because Kenny gave everyone a really big lift and then the two players came in.

“Everything is so positive and everyone is talking about Liverpool progressing and Liverpool competing for trophies in the years to come.

“This is what I want to hear.

“I know it will be very difficult and I know that it is a lot of work but we will get there.”

The last set of accounts released by the club showed that Liverpool paid more than £100 million on salaries — at the time, the third highest in the Premier League — for the 2008/09 season. That figure is likely to have increased by the time FSG paid £300 million to buy the club last year.

But Henry has acknowledged that the biggest concern of the group was quite how little on-pitch class that outlay had secured Liverpool.

“The worst surprise was the lack of depth in the squad,” Henry told FourFourTwo magazine. “Our biggest concern in taking on this responsibility was this issue and it was a bigger issue than we feared. There was a huge multi-year pay-roll for a squad that had very little depth.”

Solving that problem is likely to be FSG’s priority in what Damien Comolli, Liverpool’s director of football, believes will be an immensely “busy” summer of transfer activity.

Though the club’s new owners will continue to recruit after making clear their intentions in January — signing Luis Suárez and Andy Carroll as Fernando Torres and Ryan Babel departed — FSG believes the wage bill has to present better value for money.

This is mostly Rafa's fault and why I'm glad that we now have Comolli in place.

Mostly? I disagree. He wasn't responsible for the miniscule transfer budgets of his last two seasons. And he wasn't responsible for the wage policy.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
