    I like Cahill, but I wouldn't say I'm a massive fan.

If I was too choose one CB who we have a realistic chance of sighing I'd likely be at a loss. Of course I play Footy Manager and Fifa so can name all the usual such as Hummels, Subotic, Kjaer, Sakho, etc etc - but as with 99% on here I haven't seen them play regularly.

That said, the French defender in midweek, not Mexes, one of to Valencia, looks very tidy. Shame we couldn't get him.

I think there's something wrong when you describe a supposedly attacking player as I did.

One thing's for sure, there's no way you can fit Gerrard, Meireles and Adam(if we sign him) in the same team.

I guess you have to look outside the box and see it as a squad game these days. It's not one first XI and that's it for the rest of the year.

It's one thing improving your first XI, but if you have the same options of the bench, when the season really gets going at the end, the injuries and tiredness come into play and your team will tail off without suitable replacements in the summer.

we need an all around cm who can boss a game and make sure the ball gets into dangerous areas for us whose name isn't steven gerrard. someone big who can tackle and pass and is mobile. too many passengers in the middle when stevie doesn't play.

Ahh, come on. I've been on the fence for years but he's our highest scorer this year in the Prem and he has scored some crackers over the years. When we had a good team and were going for the title he was some player.

Like many of our players he is exposed by the whole teams short comings. If players in your team can't take players on then every player in the XI will be looked at in that regard and we all know Dirk comes up short in that regard. What he does have is far more intelligence than the vast majority of footballers and that is a quality that is hard to ignore but easy to dismiss.

Again, he is a long way back on the players I'd bin.

                True, true

                The more options, the better.
I wouldn't go as far as to suggest selling Meireles, as he hasn't even done one season in the Premier League but i'd be disappointed if he was a first choice player come the start of the new season.
We need midfielders with more bite - good in the tackle and capable of passing the ball around.

I honestly think we need 8 new players. (with about 15 leaving, 15 )

we looked out of ideas from the subs onward. too many times the man in possession looked up, saw nothing and threw his hands up and yelled. we never looked like we wanted a goal, and it was ****ing ****. the ref won the game for them, but on that performance, we deserved to drop points.

                    Price. Attraction.

                    1. I can't think of another footballer in world footballer similar to our Stevie G. He is a different class and not easy to come by.

                    2. Even if he was available, he'd cost a fortune.

                    3. Even if he was available, that player would not join a team not in Europe, as every team in world football would want them.

And that is why we have players who specialise in certain positions. Because none of them are good enough to be all rounders.

I agree with you, but with the current make up of the team, he's a liability and he might be way over the hill by the time we become good again. I like Kuyt but as you said, he's the kind of player you don't mind to have when you've got Gerrard and Torres in their primes. We don't. We've signed a target man who's a good finisher but needs wingers and we've paired him with a second striker who also needs wingers to get space in the middle. Kuyt is obsolete.

I don't mind him staying as a back up striker, but his days in midfield are over.

Well we've been well short of being good enough for two seasons on the trot now, when we are takling about a club the size of LFC then a massive overhaul is par for the course.

Imagine Man Utd dropping out the top 4, **** me there'd be a ****ing blood bath. We need the same mentality.
