You do have a point but with everything else you have written it shows how defence is actually where we need to strengthen most. It wasn't long ago there were people saying why on earth are we being linked with CBs, well here's why.

I wouldn't place entire blame on Soto.

Sure he committed stupid fouls and ultimately cost us the game, but they all knew Soto has no speed nor agility and he cannot play one on one against Odemwingie and he still didn't have any support from neither Wilson (first pen) nor Skrtel or Carra (sec pen) when he needed.

Raul is back to going missing in every game as well. His goal scoring run has covered up a pretty average first season in my opinion.

He's been utter ****, with surprisingly good productivity in terms of scoring, but even in games he's scored, he's done very little else.

He's a central midfielder who's a poor tackler and a poor passer. In other words, utter useless. Play him off a lone striker or don't play him at all, which basically means cut our losses and move him on because we can't afford to have him deputize Suarez and Gerrard.

I disagree. The stadium issue yes. They've definitely knocked us back years. However, our ethos around youth development wasn't affected. Had we scouted and developed younger players better than we did during Rafa's first few years then we'd have a decent set coming through by now. As it is our great hope was a 19 year old Dani Pacheco who, as it turns out, none of our managers really fancy trying out.

The squad can be fixed in the summer (if we're willing to spend the cash) and today really hammered home how ridiculous it was to give Aquilani away and how much we still desperately need Gerrard in the team.

Carra was even worse than Kyrgiakos. I almost lost if when he screamed at Kuyt when he himself completely lost his position.

He played more like a central defender than as a right back and didn't hold his position. That made it almost impossible for Kuyt to add something to our attacking play. He had to more or less play as a right sided defender because of Carra.

The result. A back four in a complete mess and a big hole on our right side and almost no attacking play on our right side.

I wasn't sure about Cahill up until this season but having seen him bout half a dozen times, i think he'd be a great signing for us and exactly what we need.

We'll have to beat the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and United to his signature though.

Agreed, tend to get slaughtered for criticising Raul but he was shocking today. At least Lucas and Spearing got involved, Raul just seems to coast through games hoping not to have to make a challenge.

I'd love us to cash in whilst he still has some value as he is out of his depth in the physical battle over here.
