I've never been sure about Gary Cahill but at the moment he looks an absolute must.

OK CB who'll be expensive (and probably lined up for Arsenal in fairness)........the fact he's OK, means he'd be an upgrade on what we have now.

I personally prefer footballers with the good ball tehnique. I don't see him as any improvement over Skrtel.

Skrtel costs us more goals than he saves, over the course of a season.

I'd sign two CB's in the summer, not one.

I wouldn't place entire blame on Soto.

Sure he committed stupid fouls and ultimately cost us the game, but they all knew Soto has no speed nor agility and he cannot play one on one against Odemwingie and he still didn't have any support from neither Wilson (first pen) nor Skrtel or Carra (sec pen) when he needed.

Perhaps, but with an aerial ball like that for the 2nd peno, I would expect him to make a better fist of it..........shocking stuff

if Meireles has to be played higher up the pitch away from the midfield battle. Lucas looks wrecked and Jay is average

He's been utter ****, with surprisingly good productivity in terms of scoring, but even in games he's scored, he's done very little else.

He's a central midfielder who's a poor tackler and a poor passer. In other words, utter useless. Play him off a lone striker or don't play him at all, which basically means cut our losses and move him on because we can't afford to have him deputize Suarez and Gerrard.

Of a late I'd have to agree with the first point but to be honest the second point, imo, comes down to the fact that a lot of our players just do not seem to understand that they need to move into space or create space. It was the same with Aquilani for me. Good player with good vision but no one else up to speed with him.

We can't afford to play with central defenders that don't add something to our attacking play and can't carry the ball.

We need eleven players on the pitch that can play free flowing pass and move football. Ten isn't enough. All eleven should be able to do it.

Meireles makes great runs and IMO has a lovely strike of a ball but he also can't tackle or pass. Seems to me that if he is not played in a particular position which is close to goal, he is pretty much a non event. Has gone from an average start, to a fantastic month and then to very poor.

IMO play to his strengths or use him as a squad player.

Cannot disagree with that.

The worst thing is that even with such poor performance but almost entire team we should have won this game easily.

Kuyt had a great chance shortly after Skrtel scored and Suarez was doing helter skelter down the left flank and served Raul the opportunity after they scored that he shouldn't have missed.

Skrtel needs a strong consistent defender beside throughout the season.

1) We weren't much good today
2) That was an atrociously biased refereeing/officiating performance. We got literally nothing from them - every 50/50 or even 60/40 decision went their way, and Atkinson's treatment of Carroll in the first half was nothing short of a disgrace.
3) Lucas had a great game in an otherwise poor midfield. Needed others around him
4) It was always going to be a struggle once Agger and Johnson went off. Only ones who contribute anything going forwards from defence, and left us with no full backs

Meireles has never convinced me, and the few goals he scored haven't changed my mind.

He's now back to his weak, casual and half-hearted self. Luxury player if their ever was one and you can't have luxury players in a mediocre squad.
