Isn't he out of contract in the summer? Are the club going to want to renew it?

contract wrangling aside, i feel sorry for the lad.
he has lots to give and never hides when on the pitch. i hope the club keep him on a small contract and give him the chance to come back and prove himself again.
ive got him pencilled in as a future DM enforcer.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Feel for Flanno though, sad news.
Reckon his career is done for at the top level.

Another young lad who needs to re evaluate the advice they're paying to receive. He's ****ed now unless the club fancy charity towards him.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostTurned down 35k a week, holding out for 40k
Knew he needed the operation at that time.

Rob Jones now, on 1 leg is better than Flanagan.Originally posted by gratziani View PostPoor Lad will he be filed under Rob Jones (what a player)
Looked like he was going to make one of the full back positions his own last year
No comparisons as players whatsoever.
We've obviously missed Flanagan, we've missed anyone to play half decent at full back but he has had 1 spell in the side when we were battering everyone anyway.
40 odd games in 4 years, 25 of them last season in a team flying.
2 knee operations keeping him out for the best part of 18 months.
If he wasn't a local lad no-one would be bothered. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I don't see why you say 40 odd games in 4 years. Did you expect him to be playing at 17 in the first team.

And he was still caught out defensively all the time and was afraid to challenge on crosses.Originally posted by gratziani View Postlast year he was 20/21 years old and made his breakthrough in a team that nearly won the league.

I feel sorry for the lad, but he was never good enough to be here long term.

My point is some are treating it like John Barnes has done his achillies.Originally posted by gratziani View Postlast year he was 20/21 years old and made his breakthrough in a team that nearly won the league.

He's a young lad who got into the team at the right time and rode the crest of a wave.
He was defensively naïve in most of those games (as he will be) his starting position, angle of approach, speed of approach and distances were off most weeks.
The odd vine of him making a tackle doesn't make him the next Markus Babbel let alone Rob Jones.
He was no different to Warnock in his early games.
Off the back of that he's turning down 35k a week.
If he were any other nationality apart from scouse he's be getting pelters.
Flanagan is a decent squad player who may have become a PL regular, we needed to upgrade even if he was fit.The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Nothing to do with comparing him to John Barnes or being a local player.
It is the same as Ibe making his breakthrough this year when a youngster makes a claim for a place and keeps it on merit.
A player from the academy getting noticed and pushing for a place in the 1st team instead of paying 16 million for Moreno and 20 million for Lovren.
