Flano and Clyne would definitely give us some solid fullback play.

We wouldn't really lose much attacking play anyway. Morono doesn't exactly do much in an attacking sense apart from run down the touchline. His crossings somehow even worse than Clyne and Ibes

No we don't - we need defenders who can defend and world class strikers who score goals.

Nope, full backs have to be able to offer attacking support. Full backs just defending is something long gone for teams who want to actually be successful.

In fact can you name any top teams who's full backs just defend?

Being good at defending and attacking aren't mutually exclusive skills.

I thought last night for all the deep **** that has happened to Flanno over the last couple of years, his performance bordered on the heroic. His body must be seriously sore today. By tomorrow hell have that deep muscle fatigue thing going on and he will not be able to walk downstairs or get up from the toilet.

It's so good to see him back. Hopefully the injuries haven't taken a serious toll on him.
              Really?

Must remember that one - "deep muscle fatigue" I have been using "old age" as an excuse when I cant walk downstairs or get up from the toilet

what a great display that was...kicked the **** out of arnoutović time and time again. wouldn't really play him at left back myself as i feel you need a left footed player there to strech the defense and to put in a first time cross, and we have smith who has proved he can play a bit. but it's great to have someone in the team who just ploughs though players

I actually think both Clyne and Flanno can play at left back. I know what you are saying about stretching the defence the width of the pitch but for me both clyne and flanno would be comfortable running outside an opponent on the left wing as well.

And depending on who you are up against, then being right footed playing at left back can actually help you. If you are playing against a player that likes to cut in (and to be honest there aren't that many 'hug-the-touchline' type wingers any longer) then it actually suits. Flanno was great at LB when we nearly won the league. One of the most memorable right-footed left back performances was Arbeloa v Messi when he first signed for us. And Cesar Azpilicueta has been brilliant for chelsea at left back for a number of years.

The return of Flanagan (hopefully he stays fit) and hopefully Smith can become a somewhat valued squad member as well - then that could save LFC millions this summer. Because we would have needed a new left back otherwise. We are actually well stocked now.

We know Flanno can play left back as that was where he played most of his games in 2013/14,

IMO Clyne at LB & Flanno at RB is the way to go. Moreno is nearly as bad at attacking as he is defending. He has a grand total of "1" assist in the league this season. I don't see Flanno as a downgrade in an attacking sense, aswell as being a much better defender IMO will be a better option going forward. Win win situation to have him there.

Flanno was a good back up before he got injured.
It's exactly the same right now, maybe if he stays fit between now and the end of the season then he might kick on to be first choice from next year.

It's nice to have some squad depth, Moreno has been poor recently, he's also been flogged to death so would no doubt improve if he's afforded the odd game off.

Moreno has been poor full stop at LFC mate. Defensive liability unfortunately.

his first (and ironically, last) good game was away at Spurs when he scored.
