Finished reading it just last night, really good read and just puts together what most of us have read during those dark days.
Its crazy what went on at that club for the past 20 years never mind when the yanks took over, we really were asleep as the other top clubs past us by. Only now that we're slowly catching up in the commercial sense.
Rafa for all his politicking really got it in the neck from every direction, really upsetting reading about his wife praying for a win in the directors area so her husband could get some relief from the stress.
good book and i suspect not the last we'll see on the subject, would make a great movie were it not about our club

Still remember the pictures when he sat in the stands and had a lot of pain. The doctors had ordered him not to be there but he just couldn't stay away. He loved the club to much and wanted to help in every way he could.Originally posted by spanky View PostFinished reading it just last night, really good read and just puts together what most of us have read during those dark days.

it would make a fantastic movie! it cld start with a flashback of all our glorious past, then seamlessly merge into the champions league winners night in may then bring in the classless cunts and end with kenny guiding us from the brinks of hell.Originally posted by spanky View PostFinished reading it just last night, really good read and just puts together what most of us have read during those dark days.

This is totally incorrectOriginally posted by Arn View PostThe last bid by Dubai wasn't from DIC. The £500m bid was from Dubai Holdings and had nothing at all to do with DIC. Dubai Holdings is like the Sheikhs personal play thing.
If the Sheikh still had wanted to buy us then money wouldn't stopped him doing it.
Dubai Holdings is the umbrella company/group name / sovereign fund name that owns Dubai International Capital (DIC)
The sheikh might have been able to have funded a purchase PERSONALLY but if he'd touched us with his sovereign wealth funds he'd have had every Dubaiian citizen in Dubai storming the gates, he'd have had his sovereign wealth fund creditors and banks reigning in his credit and above all else he'd have had Abu Dhabi going ballistic at him and his banksBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Those figures make more senseOriginally posted by Charly View PostApparently the second bid was not DIC, but from the Sheikh directly. I guess he wanted to put one over on the Abu Dhabi Sheikh who owns man ****ty.
The £100m profit (each) was the difference on the second loan they got for £300m (I think - I may have just made that up though). Either way, its a huge enough profit. I think he either thought that they would pay any money, or he thought he could hold onto us until we could negociate our own tv deals (something I hope never happens).
£174 million plus £45 million debt plus £100 million per **** = circa £420 millionBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
