I have seen Kuijt play about a hundred times for FC Utrecht and he is a decent player who always gives 100% and scores potloads of goals.

He is rated by Cruijff and Van Basten.

My expectation is that he would make a dynamic duo with Crouch.

He is the equal of Trez, Yakubu, Defoe etc.

      I'd prefer Villa or Zlatan.

Well, hope you are right puredale.

I havn't watched enough of Dirk Kuyt, so you are probably in a better position to judge than me...

But seriously, I have catched him ONLY on his bad days...He just looked terrible everytime I got the rare chance to watch him play...

I agree. I think he was a very good player. But he just wasn't good enough for us. When you play for the bulge-bracket teams (Pool, Scums, Chelski & Arse), expectations are going to be that much higher. Unfortunately, Diouf just did not meet those expectations. That doesn't mean he is a bad player though. He's done very well at Bolton so he is definately Premiership-calibre but just not Liverpool quality.

Who says we are not signing Alves

I think once we have sorted the Pennant and "A Striker" deal, we'll be back for Alves

Well i thought that Morientes would be a success for us so I'm no great judge!!

Dirk is a decent guy as well and good for team spirit (I vaguely know his sister - not well enough to phone her up and ask her!!) and always gives his best so if he has any weaknesses I'm sure Rafa and the coaching team will iron them out.

How much have we actually spent?

                  Bellamy 6 million
                  Gonzalez 1.5 Million
                  Paletta 2 million
                  Pennant 6 Million
                  Aurelio Free

                  That equals 15.5 million

                  We sold

                  Morientes for 3 million
                  Barragan for 1.7 Million

That makes it 10.8 million for 5 players. Of which 4 will be First teamers this season. That's stellar business

Now if we can get Kuijt for 6 million + Dudek and Kromkamp. That would push our spending up to 17 million.

When we qualify for the Group Stages of CL, that will free up an extra 5 million plus. I think we'd manage a 10 million bid + clauses for Alves.

Also remember that we are Rid of Medjani, Cheyrou, Cisse,Hamann and Diao . Also Kromkamp and Dudek if Swap deal works. That will free up a lot of money from the wage bill.

                  Looking very Good, I'd say

i have to be honest and say i have nly ever seen kuyt play in the world cup never before.

obviously he was poor in the world cup along with the rest of the dutch team but i wont judge him on that.

what i will assume is that rafa has had him watched and has watched him dozens of times and is obviously convinced he has the game to play for liverpool.

                    good enough for me

Pretty sure that feyenoord want cash and our offers of players in part exchange have all been rejected, like you say though we havent spent alot this summer, but the messages that the manager is giving out, is that we havent got alot to spend

I think it's more a question of not enough Cash with the players mentioned. Kuijt wants CL Football and has already interrupted his training as a protest for them keeping him. As no other CL teams are in for Him, they will soon realize that they dont have much choice

Yeah I think that the longer it goes on will mean that feyenoord will eventually lower there price.

I would be disappointed if we payed more than

Rafa has had this guy scouted for two years and has made it obvious he sees him as a "top" target.

That's all the recommendation I need.
Rafa needs a player to play in a particular way for his system and sees Kuyt as that man.

Plus in the world cup all of the Netherlands fans and media were crying out for Kuyt to be included. Shame that on that occasion he couldn't repay them.

I want him, he's a grafter, and I've always liked players who work hard.

Have we all decided that JohnnyH's info on KT about us not being interested is wrong then?
