You know Steven Gerrard?? - our captain, who people often slag off for being negative, always looking worried and not really connecting with the fans...
Well - read the following story to get another side of his personality (sorry, it's a rather long read)
A month ago I was named Sports Journalist of the Year 2010 in Denmark (yes - I'm one of those horrible persons).
The award was given to me because I travelled through through Africa for six weeks prior to the World Cup to tell stories about football's cultural and importance on the big continent - touching upon subjects as player trafficking and racism but also writing about the sheer passion.
The trip and experience was reward enough in itself but then the award came along and on Saturday my colleagues and I were out celebrating when one of the guys gave me a present - a Liverpool home shirt - and the following story:
They bought the shirt on the internet and asked Daniel Agger for a favour - would he help them get Gerrard to sign the shirt?
He said yes without hesitation, was given the shirt after Denmark's Euro 2012 qualifier against Norway and brought it back to Liverpool where Gerrard not only signed it but wrote the following message:
"Congratulations on the award as sportsreporter of the year
Best wishes - Steven Gerrard"
A Danish friend of Agger was meant to bring it back to Denmark after a visit but he cancelled his trip - Agger just went to the post office and shipped the shirt to back without any complaint.
That my fellow fans is pure class and it has given me a belief high paid footballers actually can act like real human beings

I know I should have attached a picture of the shirt but I'm away on a short holiday but I'll do it as soon as possible
