Hate to disagree with you mate (loved Macca), but for me, Giggs is in a different league. He's still producing the goods today. It's quite incredible really. Giggs is a phenomenon - arguably the best player to have played in the Premiership. McManaman was just a really, really good player!Originally posted by Baracus View PostSo underrated because he was living under the shadow of Giggs.
I still think to this day he was better, more clinical & direct at everything he did compared to GiggsK ris90210

How we could do with McManaman in our side now. His ability to run box-to-box with the ball is something we really lack. Don't think he ever got the praise he should have. His body language looked like he didn't care, but he always gave 100% effort.
Proved how good he was by going to Real and being a success, man of the match in Chapions League Final. People like Owen and Beckham were nowhere near as succesful at Real.My LFC Blog - OH I AM A LIVERPUDLIAN

I was going to post similair last night but it was too late and I couldn't be bothered. That doesn't take anything away from how crackin a player McManaman was though.

In a debate Giggs will always win, he’s won more and had a more successful career.
I am trying not to be bias, but I just reckon Macca was a touch better.
Giggs, I always thought had great pace, good technique, good at set pieces, brilliant eye for a pass; would play great killer balls and crosses. But had a poor shot, finishing let him down (especially early on in his career) after completing his runs he would blast or balloon the shot. Never really had the bounce-ability (if that is a word), when he got tackled like Messi and Macca. I did not see too many tricks from him to take on the opposition, just pace and a quick drop of the shoulder one way or the other and run with the ball.
His goal against Arsenal in the semi-final of FA cup, summed it up for me in one sense. He ran straight for 40-60 Yards at pace dropping the shoulder, the defenders where too scared to put in a tackle or charge at him. He ran diagonally straight to goal and then to be fair his only option was to blast the ball.
Macca well there are various times where he would change up the pace, turn inside out, cut in then go out. He was poor at set pieces, especially corners I thought. But his shot and finishing were a notch better then giggs when running with the ball. His crosses where not unto it, but pretty much everything else was, that I am critical of Giggs
But what the heck 2 great players; but like others have said one is very much underrated.

I'll give you the shooting thing, but apart from that, Giggs has been superior in every aspect. And even then, I'm not convinced you're right - Giggs scores a hell of a lot of important goals for Utd. Just last night fpr example. He's always popping up with a cruicial goal or assist in big games. They'll miss him so much when he's gone.Originally posted by Baracus View PostGiggs V Macca.

****, he played as a make shift center back for them a couple of years ago didn't he? Absolutely incredible.
Interesting you brought up the Arsenal goal. The way you describe it, it's as though the fact he barely changed direction takes something away from the goal. On the contrary, the fact he barely changed direction makes it an absolutely stunning goal. He didn't pull that off against some **** side in the 3rd road. He did it against an Arsenal team who had one of the best defences in Europe at the time. And who's to say that if an Arsenal defender had of got closer, Giggs wouldn't have done something different?
Macmanaman was hugely under rated, but I think if you asked 100 neutrals, 100 of them would say Giggs was the better player.K ris90210

That would probably be the case now, Giggs has had a higher profile throughout most of his career if you were to have asked the same question in 1996-1999 say you would have got a much more even split IMO.Originally posted by kris90210 View PostI'll give you the shooting thing, but apart from that, Giggs has been superior in every aspect.
