      i know that feeling

i think - if we can sign the right level of players needed...then we can challenge.

But we need to do it properly - no more short cuts....no more 'aiming for Alves and finishing up with Pennant' type deals.

Granted, we can't compete with Chelsea or City in terms of transfer fees....but **** them, let them battle it out for your £40m Kaka's and £35m Ibrahamovic's

There is plenty of good players out there, that we 'should' hopefully be able to afford that will improve our team..

but more importantly it's signing the right type of player that we need for our system..

it doesn't matter if we pay £2m for a left back or £40m for a left back....as long as he comes in, is consistent, and improves us week in week out.

Is FSG are serious, then we should be ok - most people seem to think that we will have £50m to spend plus sales.....and i reckon we need 5 players.

We can challenge...but i don't know if we can go the whole way...as well as the above it's going to take

      new players to settle quickly
      luck
      hard work
      some top football
and a good injury run free to key players

I am hoping that the lack of europa football will be one less distraction - and that we get off to a flyer...wouldn't it be great to hit the ground running and win the first 10 games. then i think we'd go on and win it.
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

what if we cant get and alves but we need more squad depth? do we go for a pennant knowing we can move him on for more money and he will do ok with us?

or do we keep the money and let fans go mad about not spending it?

Maybe now we can get back to our rebuilding job and approach the next season without the smothering expectation of Kenny leading us to a title.
I think Champions League is a more sensible goal tbh.
yup we do have a habit of knee jerking, we are no where near ready for a title push, i agree our aim is to get back into the champs league first and foremost.

Our squad come the end of the summer should answer a few questions.

            sorry I've actually been working.

Got it wrong here, stupidly listened to SS this morning which said it would probably drop to 6th place if Spurs finish 5th - more likely Fulham by the sounds of it.

The rumour is £50-60 million plus sales is our budget

I reckon we will be able to buy enough players to significantly improve the first 11 with that cash

The squad as a whole should be supplemented by young kids coming through AND players who have been first team regulars this season dropping back down to squad level

even without money from sales its a decent amount. not totally sure what to expect from sales, I suppose aqua will be the biggest in money terms with the others on frees to get rid.

also its not just about the summer its about carrying momentum through. Investing every window or at least every summer.

it does sound like we are on the right path just have to wait and see

It'll be another interestin season at LFC to say the least

Finally a season we're going into without the off the field nonsense hanging over the Club, a manager that the players are playing for(because they weren't for Rafa in his final season)....a complete overhaul of the squad - comings and goings aplenty.

Think it's vital we make Anfield a fortress again, easier said than done of course but you look at the Mancs home form this season - it's the main reason why they're winning the League.... only 2 points dropped at home all season, 52 of their 77 points have come at home....can you imagine opposition players going to Old Trafford next season knowing they have that record. Beat before they step onto the pitch.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

totally agree - we need imo 4 top players to come in and improve the first team, and then the some of the 'current first team' to drop down to squad/rotation - and some othe current squad rotation players to be binned off - ie jovanovic/poulsen maybe even ngog and cole etc.

We have some good talented youngsters capable of filling in when needed.

£50m ish plus sales should be enough to improve us

I reckon we will raise circa £20 million from sales (including Aquilani)

mainly that it makes a change

kind of happy in a way if we don't get 5th as I think it'll help us in the league next season but on the other hand I want us to finish as high as possible and the extra revenue will help IF the Financial Fair Play Rules do actually come in to effect and work!

oh and do some work! :bird:

Poor performance. Credit to Spurs, but we stopped doing everything we have done in the last few games. Struggled to adapt to Big Andy, who clearly wasn't fit. Imperative that we get wingers in to use his strengths

But, we can't let yesterday ruin what the lads have done since January. Few signings in the summer, then we can give it a good go next season.
