Not being disrespectful but if you dont tackle you dont win back the ball, if you dont press quickly without putting your foot in, you dont win the ball. Today, we didnt put any decent pressure and tackles on modric and he danced around us creating space for others at will.

For midfielders, tackling is one of the most fundamental parts of the game and thats where meireles fails because he's a bit of a pussy.

How many times do you see the Barca players tackling? Half the teams don't even know what to do even if you give the ball away. You get it back half as easily.

Please, let us not even go there Arn. We played some absolutely woeful footy under Rafa at times too. Let's not be patronizing. There were a butt load of games where Rafa got it wrong tactically and took ages to make a sub.

The right crosses simply werent delivered for carroll to have an impact so really there was no point playing the guy.

Mate, Dirk was putting in 20+ a year in Holland. Suarez is a player but he doesn't seem the type to run on to downward headers and nick a goal; he's more likely to put it on Carroll's foot or head than poach goals off him at this point, IMO. What we really need is a midfielder getting into the box and latching onto balls.

pressing the ball without putting your foot in means that there's no point pressing. The whole point of pressing is to win back the ball and start a counter attack. If the player you are pressing doesnt think you're going to make a tackle or challenge for the ball wheres the danger ?

Wut? One player pressing makes no sense. You press in lines as a team denying time to your opponents and marking the nearest players that he could pass the ball to.
