What about the good performances v City and Sunderland with Carroll? I think its a bit simplistic to lump all the blame on him.Originally posted by Bender View PostTwo words Andy Carroll .....only difference from the previous brilliant performances.........today kuyt and maxi and co were non existent .............great anti-climax infront of the owners[i think]after kenny's new contract as well.......

**** it. I wanted to finish as high as possible and as we are defined, amongst other things, by our successes in Europe I would've taken Europa League - as utterly **** as it is.
Now it's likely we'll 'miss out', I'm not too bothered either. There's no doubt in my mind the Thursday-Sunday thing would've made next season more difficult. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Besides the antics of Mr MBE, I was extremely dissapointed with the performance especially considering it was on the back of Kenny's full time appointment & them winning no. 19. I would've expected a much better reaction from the players & also Carroll was nowhere near fit enough to play imo...Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

I don't think Andy Carroll should be anywhere near our first 11, he's an impact player from the bench at best...a good 20 minutes against Man City aside, he's been brutal.
He makes Kuyt look like 100 metre sprinter as well.
I really hope he proves me wrong, but we got hosed on this deal... Just think who we could have bought with 35 million this summer!Cult Member. Nazi puncher.

you have to give spurs some credit because they were very good defensively and very good in posession of the ball. The standards set by modric and sandro were very high and with a high tempo they just played around lucas and spearing (who was pretty poor today)
Our midfield two just werent a match for modric and sandro (who looked very good too), and maxi did his best impression of trying to play a football match but failing miserably.
You know what you get from dirk - 100% graft and the occasional bit of craft and today his craft wasnt there, suarez tried and was a constant threat until the last 20 mins by which time he knew the game was up.
The carroll thing does worry me because i wonder why sign him if we dont play to his strengths. His movement is poor but frankly you expect it to be and this so called partnership with suarez hasnt started yet. honestly, carroll was more of a hinderance today than a help.
It shows that our squad does need adding to, priorities should be central midfield (gerrard plus one), wide because maxi never once turned and ran at his man, all day he took the ball with his back towards their goal looking to lay it off quick. Dirk tried his best but had no joy.
spurs deserved it and we have to accept it. they're a better team.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

King Kenny got it totally wrong today. Kuyt out wide in a straight 4-4-2
Spearing as one of two central midfielders in a straight 4-4-2
Maxi out out wide in a straight 4-4-2
He gave away the match thanks to mistakes like that. KK should get massive criticism thanks to mistakes like that.
Today also showed how important Meireles is for 4-4-2 to work. Without him helping out in the middle Spearing look totally out of his depth.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

OK, before everyone goes insane on knee-jerk Carroll slating:
This match came down to one thing only; we did not have an attacking midfielder on the field until Shelvey came on, and I thought he looked good. Luka Modric bossed this game because he did not have an opposite number today; Lucas and Spearing were on an island against Modric, Sandro, VDV and Pienaar. Did anyone call Maxi's name? Was Dirk effective? We got overrun in the middle of the park; all of our danger came from out wide.
So, before we all go slagging off Carroll and his impact on the team, etc; this has nothing to do with him, to be fair. I might have sacrificed Carroll for Shelvey in the starting 11 to be honest, but still; Andy Carroll will score goals for Liverpool and will be a great addition for us.
When Carragher is hoofing balls up to Carroll, you know you have midfield problems.
So, whatever. Don't let emotions get the best of you... Suarez is still amazing, he will be able to play with Carroll when we have an attacker up the middle.
Roll 2011-12 and the silly season.
