No, neither do I. However, I'm not quite deriving as much joy from his plight as I had hoped to. In fact I've acquired a frightening ambivalence to anything even remotely Torres related. In fact I was even remarkable meh about Michael Owen whoring himself about the pitch today, although to have seen him you'd have thought he'd played every game and scored every goal. He reminded me of that bloke out the crowd at Istanbul who got in all the team photos
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Typical end of season game. Flat, especially first-half. Was great to see Stevie in with the travelling Kop though!

Shame we lost the last two league games, but hopefully a good summer will mean the feel-good factor is back in place come August.

And anyway, defeat means no Europa League - so result!

Can we sue him for false advertising or something?

Typical end of season game, nothing really to play for(it was a long shot for us to get into Europe), but now we can look forward to endless transfer gossip and Kenny to build his own team. I do not expect us to win the league next year but I expect us to compete and finish in a top 4 spot.

we were very poor yesterday. Looked like we'd just signed off for the season

We did at least 'try' in the second half, first half was just nothing.

Properly the best thing to come out of it is it shows how short we really are from being title challengers...

                          a left back
                          a top centre mid
two attacking/creative wide men with pace
                          another striker

                          bear minimum short -

i am hoping that, with no europa, it means less games, so if we keep our key players fit then for once it's quality of quantity that matters....but we do need at least 4/5 top quality players.

I'd add a CB to that list.

LB - definite. Aurelio is made of biscuits, Robinson/Flanagan not quite ready. Prefer Glen competing for RB with Kelly.

CB - Definite. Soto needs replacing as he isn't good enough to be back up. I'd rather we signed a first choice CB as that would make the backline stronger. Two of Carra, Agger or Skrtel as back up defenders would be very impressive.

Wide player - Definite. We've all been saying for ages that we need a bit of pace out wide. We all hoped Babel could be that player but it didn't work out. A fast player will stretch the opposition and if they're capable of beating a man and whipping in a cross it makes the attacking options much more varied.

CM - Mixed. Well if we sign a wide player I guess Meireles is back in contention for the CM position. A midfield of Gerrard, Meireles, Lucas and Spearing is pretty good. If we didn't sign one I think we'd be okay. I guess the next question is if we do sign someone, should it be someone with guile like Adam, or a battler such as M'Vila/Matuidi? I'd probably go for the latter myself.

Striker - Mixed. We could easily decide that Dirk will be competing with Carroll and Suarez for the striking spots and if that was the case I don't think we'd need a striker. But if Dirk is to still be considered as a wide player as well, then we need someone. If we need a goal it is always nice to have an option on the bench late on. Ngog isn't good enough so he needs replacing really.

                            ----

So in short, if we had the cash: LB, CB, 2 x wide players, DM, AM, ST. Seven players. There could even be an argument for a back up keeper and an additional striker. But with us not being in Europe I think we can settle for less than that list and then the following summer finish that list off.

due to lack of games next year we could bare minimum, do with a lb, cm, two wide men - however ideal world i'd also want cb and another striker. then throw in a back up keeper as well

Anyway - i agree with your point about the full backs..

flannagan looks like a great prospect, but it's too soon for him to be competitng first team week in week out - the games he has had will be great benefit for him/us - but ideally we should in order....

We agree on what players we need, but we disagree slightly on which players are most important. I'd definitely sign a CB if I was in Kennys shoes.
