I would say that the central midfield playmaker position is the most important position to strengthen.

Chelsea never replaced Ballack and Deco. Man U probably won the title thanks to that mistake by Chelsea. Suddenly they didn't had a playmaker.

Ballack did reasonably well for Chelsea imo. Not his career best, but a good player nonetheless.
