Are we really looking at so many average players?

its worrying the amount of players we are linked with that are not the quality you would want to push for a league title

so are we really thinking of signing these type of players and if so why?

We seemed to be linked to every sub standard English/British player available.

I'm hoping it's all rumour and we pull off Mata, Aguero etc. Or maybe we're just deluded Liverpool fans living off our history and the sub standard players are now our level?
    We come not to play.

The way I see it the players we have been linked with in depth so far (since the end of the season) are youngsters that can possibly get better under Kenny, Henderson, McCarthy amongst others, I think if we are really looking at a big marquee signing it will be kept well under wraps and we will know next to nothing about it until it has happened or is very close to doing so.

In the meantime you have to go off newspaper articles and people on Twitter who feed off scraps and put logical guesses together in their minds, I might just go back into thinking that we haven't signed anyone until its on the offal.

It simply has to be early summer mind games to throw off Ol' 'Arry from being linked with every single player we're after. How many people have sighted Dalglish or Commolli in the north east of England recently?

Well, I have pretty much promised to eat someone's cock if we sign Aguero, can't remember who it was though, hope we go for Mata

In terms of adding much needed squad depth, there is not much wrong with most of the players linked. As long as we get top top quality too.

It's silly season and every agent will try and link their players to big teams. I've no doubt we are interested in some of these English players that aren't particularly rated or exciting but 90% of these links will be junk and we will have as much focus here as we would abroad. It's purely a case of getting the most suitable players based on a scale of integration, ability, potential, etc.

I'm not remotely worried about any of these links. I'm fairly sure we will end up with a couple of players generally considered average and also some very good additions that will improve our team. We clearly have money to spend and Kenny is anything but a mug.

according to skybet we're favourites for Downing, Barton, Adam and Mata to sign this summer.

In general these guys have no idea what we're up to and are clutching at straws, I'm expecting the transfer window to move back to days gone by as Kenny has been saying all along.

I'm trying to ignore all the links as best I can as in most cases the journo's are guessing and have as much of an idea as we do!

And, unfortunately, a little of this

We finished SIXTH last year. For the first half of the year we were closer to the bottom of the table than the top. We have no European football to offer, nor are we (to the outsider observer at the very least) more likely to finish in the top 4 next year compared to those we would be competing with. Our squad, right now, isn't even close to challenging for the league and we are unable to compete wage wise with at least 2 of our perceived peers

                          Happy Friday everyone

Or maybe as fans we just want the 'big' names because they are 'big' names with no thought to whether they will actually help in turning Kenny's vision into reality and help turn individual 'big' names into a 'winning 'team'.

We have been linked to Downing and Henderson who have been instantly belittled by many and even with stats that showed they were, each, one of the most creative players (in terms of chances created) they are still not classed as good enough because they play for mediocre teams. Well maybe, just maybe they each could create just as many chances in a bigger team.

Players, generally, have to start somewhere else before moving on to a big team and sometimes that somewhere else just so happens to be a not very good team.

But what will people think if Kenny only brings in Cahill/Dann, Henderson/Cattermole, Adam, N'Zogbia/Young/Downing/Marveaux and there are no 'big' names like Mata, Aguero, Hazard?

What if Kenny doesn't these players would be good for the 'team'?
