    Maxi wants to leave

Maxi Rodriguez will ask Liverpool for a return to his native Argentina this summer.

In spite of a rich goalscoring record toward the end of last season, the Liverpool winger has struggled to meet expectations following his move from Atletico Madrid last January.

Maxi began his career with Newell's Old Boys and the 30-year-old, currently back in his homeland, has revealed that he has held discussions with their president Guillermo Lorente in the hope of rejoining them should Liverpool allow him to leave.

“When I left here, I knew I was coming back.” he told La Capital.

“The president [Lorente] called me [about rejoining] and I told him 'yes'.

“Now it all depends on the contract I have with Liverpool, that maybe can be loosened a little.”

There was me thinking he was out of contract having signed an 18 month deal when he signed in Jan 10??
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Apparently the paper he "gave those comments to" is an absolute rag over there and is to be taken about as seriously as, er, the rag over here. Or maybe caughtoffside.com.

Be pretty ****ing stupid selling one of our few technically proficient, intelligent footballers. He was made to play in a pass and move team and is great squad material.

Or maybe we should just sell him and bring in that young English lad from Doncaster Rovers for £14.5m.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

This city has two great football teams – Liverpool and Liverpool reserves

i'd prefer to keep him - experienced and is a good squad player for us...

however - if we were to sign downing and another winger....for arguements sake....Juan Mata - then with those two and kuyt and henderson - Maxi probably wouldn't be missed.

The only problem I have with this is that we're sitting out a second season of the CL at the moment and I think its a very risky business to be putting our chances of clawing our way back into the top 4 into the hands of potential. Not only that, we're spending a **** load of money in nothing more than potential.

Its a very risky game we're playing and whilst I have faith in Kenny and Camolli, I really think at this stage in our road back, we need to be spending £35m here and £20m there on the types of players who will make a difference, who will strike fear into the opposition and state that LFC mean business. There's nobody in europe who will look at our recent transfers and do nothing more than scratch their heads.

How much would we get for him? if the money helps a little towards getting a world class left sided midfielder (and I am not talking about Downing) then we should let him go.

Who has advanced how exactly in the last year? Maxi is a decent player, in the second half of the season he has been pretty good.

I reckon £5m tops. If we need that small amount to help fund transfers then we are still in trouble aren't we?

he is getting on and we could get some money or use his wages so i can see the logic.

how ever technically he is one of our better players.
