Tedious arguments aside, I do rate Maxi. Would be annoyed if we let him go- a valuable squad player & someone you can rely on IMO.

I've mentioned before one of my exes is his cousin. Havent seen her for nearly a decade but she FB messaged me the other day cos we are both off to a mutual mate's wedding. Apparently she's got an invite to Maxi's place & will get to meet team members & stuff. She doesnt even like LFC FFS!! & spent all her time with me cheering for Chavski to wind me up (she's Siciallian & they had Vialli etc the time). Proper ****ing jealous. Might see if I can blag a signed shirt or something.

she is a primary school teacher and her school had the LFC youth team and a few ressies in for a few days doing coaching and 'community' visits etc - it was around 2006 so i think we may have won the youth cup then? think it was when the likes of craig linfield etc were 'the next' stars...

Anyway - one of the players asked for her a number and she refused...and she was telling me this in a "look how much i love you...i refused an lfc players advances" - and i was all like...."really!!! who was it.....wwhat was his name....what did he look like, was he one of the foriegn lads or local" she said she didn't know his name she just refused him point blank -

at this point i said "what...fcuking gutted....can you find out who it was, would you recognise him if i showed you some pictures from the lfc site....otherwise no-one will believe me"

she hit the roof. Apparently i was supposed to be more excited that she refused him and wasn't interested him in at all

Joking aside, who are you to know whether or not Argentina are expected to win tournaments now but they weren't 10 years ago? Seems like a ludicrous comment. They've won nothing for 20 years or more and got no further than ghana and paraguay at the 2010 world cup. And they didn't even qualify for the last confederations cup! So what is your point? And does it prove that Maxi is top quality?

Since I've followed Argentina as my no1 international team from 1990, I'd like to think that I do know what is expected of them, and how good they are and where they should be etc.
What have the Germans won since 1990 then? Doesn't add any weight to your argument tbh. Btw Arg won the Copa America back to back in the early '90's. Plus due to the fact that they've won three U20 WC's in the last decade, this would lead to the point that they should be winning more tournaments such as the WC...
If Maxi has been a part of the Arg team since 2003, then yes he is good enough, and I never said top quality... I said good enough.
Take a look at the midfield/forwards of the Arg squad and that'll answer your question for you.

I also think you'll find the ones who didn't rate him are pretty predictable too and you could swap Maxi for most of our players who don't run fast.

Vaguely similar - Was in Cream back in 95 or 96ish and some fit young bird came over trying to chat me up, asking if I was a model & stuff like that ( yeh right ). She was on about how she'd just turned Jason McAteer down, which seemed far more interesting than her unimaginative chat-up lines at the time.

Sadly, I seemed to spend a sizable proportion of my early 20s too ****ed to realise the fit girls that had come over to talk to me were often trying to get off with me, then realise the next day and be gutted. I blame a disproportionately high appetite vs. a disproportionately low tolerance to various narcotics at the time...

Perhaps I should have said most of the ones. But it’s not a case of people disagreeing with me, so they must be wrong. As I glanced down the page I just noticed that most of the negativity was coming from familiar sources and I could have predicted what they might say before reading their post.
