        Good team I do however feel Lucas will play.

        Also it will be good to have a strong bench the likes of Skrtel, Henderson, Maxi, Meireles, Aquilani, Aurelio, Kyriakos, Ngog plus youngsters such as Spearing, Shelvey, Wilson, Flanagan, Robinson...
        The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

          Don't like that line up at all.

          Adam and Gerrard will simply IMO never be good enough defensively together. You may be able to play them together against a bottom club team at home but never in an away game or a good team at home.

          Insua is at the moment our best left back and should play. Things change of course if we sign a new high quality left back.

          Johnson should play right back. We must get the best out of him.

          Play Gerrard centrally in the three behind Carroll and we will most probably get the best out of him. Suarez on the right and Downing on the left. All three players behind Carroll could change position a lot during a game without any problem

                  I think it highlights our desperate need for a left-back.

                  There also needs to be a place in team for Lucas (I don't think those words would have left my finger two years a go). And to be pedantic, I'd have Adam on the left, as apposed to Gerrard.

                  The signing of Downing has thrown my thoughts of 4-3-3, I was thinking:

                  -- Suarez --- Carroll --- Kuyt --

                  -- Adam --- Lucas --- Gerrard --

                  --------- DEFENCE ------------

                  But I think the signing of Downing either means Suarez on the right in place of Kuyt, with Downing on the left, alternating during the game. Or a completely different formation altogether. I think it will be interesting to see what the fans view as our strongest XI.

                    He's probably right though.

                    He isn't too bad and far more reliable than Aurelio.

                    I also agree that a Adam/Gerrard axis would seriously get found out. Lucas has to be first choice in our midfield. Simple as.

                          Aurelio is too injury prone and Robinson is too young and inexperienced. The problems with Insua developed because he was thrown in at the deep end and expected to play week in week out, instead of being brought in slowly, lets learn from our past mistakes.

                            I dont care about what his stats are. He's nowhere near as good as Aurelio and Kelly/Johnson is so much better than Johnson/Insua.
