Aquilani - stay or go?

He only wants to go home to play football....if he felt that he was included in the managers first team plans I'm sure he would want to stay.-----------------------------------------------

This indecision's bugging me...Originally posted by IN_RAFA_WE_TRUST View PostSo no deal then.
Looks like he is staying, which isn't a bad thing. It's good to have options ,no?

No thats not what I saidOriginally posted by kris90210 View PostOf course it has something to do with you rating him. You're not at all bothered at the prospect of loaning him out. If you rated him as a player then you would feel different. Do you think anyone would give a **** if Poulson was loaned out?
The benefits of keeping Aquilani?
* He is extremely comfourtable on the ball
* He's a great passer
* Excellent technique
* Capable of scoring goals
* Links play extremely well
* Creative
* Adds a touch of flair to central midfield
* Excellent at playing through balls
* Great vision
* Just had an injury free season, which suggests that he may have overcome his injury problems
Balance his qualities against a 900k fee and the cost of his wages... it's a bad deal for us! At the end of the day, he's different to our other midfielders. He would add a lot of depth to our team, even if he's only offering competition.
Even if Aquilani goes to Fiorentina, plays out of his skin, we can only recoup 9 million. It just makes no sense to me at all.
I didnt say give me the benefits of him as a player
I asked what benefits are there from keeping a player who is unhappy, desperately wants to leave and we have already bought replacement(s) for
As for the rating stuff its **** ALL to do with rating him, its that he wants to go that makes me want to let him go
For me (and it appears for the club) they only want players who WANT to play for LFC
Aquilani doesntBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

ALL that putting in a transfer request does is negate your loyalty bonuses/wage pay offsOriginally posted by kris90210 View PostI don't really follow your point as to why he hasn't put in a tranfer request? If he is THAT unhappy, surely that would help him get his wish.
Aquilani has already waived themBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

No I dont, but the catalyst was Rafas decision 12 months earlier which I'm sure made any decision Alonso had to make much easierOriginally posted by Vermilion View PostYou honestly believe that had Rafa not attempted to sell him, he would have turned Madrid down ?
I really really don't, and for me..that equates to wanting to leave.
I have no problem with that though, it's his home, and the biggest club in HIS country and maybe the world came calling, he was offski..regardless of anything else imo.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'm notOriginally posted by kop-al-74 View PostI'm glad the deal has fallen through.Now maybe we can try to find a way to include a very talented footballer into our team,it can't be that hard,surely!Appart from Gerrard and Lucas,he's the best of the rest of the midfielders imo.
We are stuck with an unhappy player, paying him enormous wages, we have already bought other players as replacements and this will impact on other potential signingsBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Didnt Torres say he wanted to stay in October of last year?Originally posted by Zapater View Post"I return to Liverpool with great enthusiasm," ... "This is not a problem. It's not true that I didn't want to return to England."
I think the way Aquilani has conducted himself publicly has been impeccable
But from what I've heard he DEFINITELY doesnt want to be hereBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
