Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

i would love to see the plan with a new 1,000,000 capacity stadium and record purchases happening on a daily basis to show we mean business, also the most expensive womans team in the history of womens teams.
the best bit is managing to sell the players for millions more than anyone wants to buy them for .

yes but i dont think we would buy AA to win the league.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostNone of the players on our books have his quality. Anyway, it's clear we're planning for top 4 instead of trying to go all out winning the league.

That's all there is to it. The example of Mascherano or Adam or anyone else proves nothing other than people are different.Originally posted by dww View PostWhile I generally think that Arn is wildly overstating his case here I suspect he is just adding another (recent) example of a player who played well despite being unhappy in Liverpool. In some ways the example of Mascherano is more relevant than Alonso as the latter was clearly quite happy in the UK in general an specifics of career and employment made him want to leave.
Obviously the caveats you raised/implied of people dealing with things differently is also relevant. I guess the question is whether anyone has any insight into how Aquilani would respond.
Despite Rafa's comments towards the end of his first season Aquilani did perform pretty well on the pitch despite his supposed dissatisfaction off it.
And if that's the level of insight we can manage in this discussion then it's all the most pointless piece of **** I've ever read..

Its been glaringly obvious that we lack creativity in the centre and only Aquilani has made the difference this pre season. As mad as it sounds, after spending these sums of money, with Gerrard out we'll be lacking. I don't think Adam is the answer at the top level.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostWill we replace him though?
This squad is still desperately short in a couple of areas, but I think we could edge it into the top 4 at the expense of Arsenal who have weakened. If Aquilani goes, we need to replace him, but I think 2 commanding centrebacks are a higher priority.

If fairness Lecter, it is difficult to accept that this messy situation is all created by him and him forcing way out as he was toyed around since Purslow's days (Rafa didn't do him any favors neither) and there was always a feeling that he wasn't coming back as Juve was going to sign him permanently, which in a way didn't make him a part of Kenny's plans either.Originally posted by Lecter View Post

Arsenal have done this for years and they get paid excellent money for their players. It takes time to build up a reputation but in the end it is worth it.Originally posted by Vermilion View Post

I can't believe there hasn't been an at least equally pointless discussion on here in the past. Surely the fanciful Mourinho to replace Rafa (when we got Hodgson) nonsense has to be up there.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostThat's all there is to it. I didn't mean to suggest it was the only one.

As I was reading through all this, short of integrating diagrams to enhance your arguement, I couldn't really see how else you could make your point?Originally posted by Lecter View Post

I can appreciate that people rate him that highly and dont want him sold but sometimes decisions are not made for footballing reasons

Purslow got him the deal he wantedOriginally posted by Mostar View PostIf fairness Lecter, it is difficult to accept that this messy situation is all created by him and him forcing way out as he was toyed around since Purslow's days (Rafa didn't do him any favors neither) and there was always a feeling that he wasn't coming back as Juve was going to sign him permanently, which in a way didn't make him a part of Kenny's plans either.

Just a shame Juve ****ed him over in trying to **** us over
A few months ago didnt Kenny mention out of the blue that Aquilani was coming back and would welcome him back - I think those ideas were dashed when he saw him again face to face and was told again he wanted away
I've no bitterness towards Aquilani his situation is understandable (from a humane point of view) and sadly we will no doubt get screwed on any dealBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
