Valid point but by the same token we should be doing what is the best for LFC and regardless of "wage" issues I wouldn't let him go (Yes I know he wants to leave so why stand in the way) unless we get fair value and if we don't so be it.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostCome on, mate, too much posting - you're losing perspective.
You know perfectly well his job isn't to keep the price high but to get the best deal for his client, not LFC.
And anyway, do you really think any prospective buying club needs what an agent says in public to have an idea of how to get the best deal for themselves? I'm sure the story is an open secret in football.
I suspect it's only a few overenthusiastic LFC supporters who determinedly refuse to see what's really going on.

arn go and buy a football club.Originally posted by Arn View PostIt isn't only Cesc. Nasri and Bendtner is in the same situation. Arsenal simply must make a stand or they will lose a lot of money.
as our current manager coaches owners seem to be getting it all wrong, with your plans you will get a job no problem
he doesnt want to play for us, we dont want him that effects the value. Also there is no danger of him going to a rival this effects our stratergy
arn are you really as mad as you appear with your posts?
money as Lec says is a finite resource. Also in your calculations you always ignore the fact that its possible the other option is him being here costing us his wages and not getting in the team. So save his wages and get a fee. its not that stupid a business strategy.
and now you say money is important but it didnt matter when you wanted us to keep bidding higher and higher for players we were looking at buying.

but the actual situation isnt regardless of wage issues. its precisely wage issues and him not wanting to be here that has led us to where we are.Originally posted by Mostar View PostValid point but by the same token we should be doing what is the best for LFC and regardless of "wage" issues I wouldn't let him go (Yes I know he wants to leave so why stand in the way) unless we get fair value and if we don't so be it.

Kenny Dalglish leaves door open for Alberto Aquilani to remain at Liverpool FC this season
Liverpool Echo
Aug 3 2011
Alberto Aquilani LIVERPOOL boss Kenny Dalglish has left the door open for Alberto Aquilani to remain at Anfield this season.
The Italy international has been heavily linked with a move this summer following his return to the Reds after a year on loan at Juventus.
Fiorentina wanted to take him on another season-long loan but Aquilani rejected their approach last week saying that if he leaves Liverpool again he wants it to be on a permanent basis.
AC Milan have also expressed an interest in the 27-year-old midfielder but his future remains uncertain.
Aquilani caught the eye after coming off the bench late on in the Reds' 3-3 draw with Valerenga in Oslo on Monday night.
He set up two goals for Daniel Agger and almost netted himself with a spectacular volley.
“Alberto is a very good footballer full stop, irrespective of where he is playing,” Dalglish said.
“If he's here for the start of the season that wouldn't be a problem.”
Aquilani's agent Franco Zavaglia still expects his client to return to Italy and believes it would take a bid in the region of £9million for Liverpool to agree to sell him.
Zavaglia intends to hold talks with AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani when he returns from China next week following their Italian Super Cup meeting with Inter in Beijing on Saturday.
The Serie A outfit are looking for midfield reinforcements following Andrea Pirlo’s transfer to Juventus.
Asked about AC Milan's interest in Aquilani, Zavaglia said: “When you speak of such a negotiation, there is always an element of truth.
“Galliani is now in China for the Italian Super Cup but I expect to talk to him when he comes back to Milan.
“I think an agreement could be reached for a figure around 10million euros (£8.7million).”
Zavaglia admits Aquilani's future lies in Liverpool's hands.
“Aquilani is still tied to a three-year contract with Liverpool and before his eventual departure we will talk with the leadership of Liverpool,” he added.
“It seems clear to me that the player doesn't fall into the technical plans of the coach, so the suggestion of his departure is concrete.”
Liverpool's Michael Ngoo made his first appearance at the Under-20 World Cup as England drew 0-0 with Argentina.
The Academy striker came on in the second half but couldn't help the young Lions find a breakthrough.
Brian Eastick's side will be guaranteed a place in the second round if they beat Mexico in their final group game tomorrow.

Looks like this one will go on till the end of the window; we should at least keep him until the end of August when Gerrard is nearer fitness. His value cannot go lower, €6 Million for a current Italian international is robbery, especially after his first fully fit season.Originally posted by Lecter View Post“Alberto is a very good footballer full stop, irrespective of where he is playing,” Dalglish said.

Regardless to whether he is happy in the UK or not, he is a professional, who wants to stay in the national team with the Euro finals next year, so would need to perform.

Not really. Maybe he doesn't want to end up in the same position in a year's time. Who knows? None of us.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostSo he won't go out on loan then, both because he doesn't want it and we don't want it, if this report is true, which demystifies a wee bit that he so desperately wants to move at all costs.
Anyway it seems far more likely he (and the club) is just holding out for what he'd prefer - it's probably all just negotiating.
We'll have a clearer idea of what all the interested parties really want (or at least are happy to accept) by 1st September, if not before..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

He must have had knowledge (or alot of confidence) that other clubs would have come in for him. Because if he hates Liverpool / the UK as much as Lecter says, he would surely take the chance on a 1 year loan deal than stay in a place he hated for at least 6 months, hoping something more long term would come up.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
