Stating the obvious I know but imo people need to remember these are pre season friendlies. Sure AA looks good because he's the kind of player who loves a bit of time on the ball in a steady paced game. None of the friendlies will be owt like the Sunderland game and the idea of the trusted and consistent and grafting kuyt making way for AA to be accommodated makes no sense. At best AA will make the bench.

imo he'll be gone by the end of the window.

Do you live in the Atherton Tableland or do you like Mike Atherton or is there another reason for your name?

Think the whole team was generally poor tbf, (bit of a delayed tour/training effect relapse maybe) so many times he was just outside the box looking for runners, and there were none.

Would be interested to see how he and Suarez work together, could be a good match up.

Good point Verm, I actually remember a time where he picked up the ball with time to look up and there was space in the channel ahead of him that nobody had run into and he simply raised his arms as if to say "where are you guys".

Atherton is a small somewhat damaged but never beaten town in the north west. Half way between liverpool and manchester. Makes for some fun in the pubs when we play the scum. Home of the not quite world famous bent and bongs beer festival opened t'other year by peter reid.

No-one in the first half produced anything of note.....wretched stuff, and although there was a couple of incidences where you could see Alberto looking for the runner, he was ponderous and was caught on the ball more than once.
Surround him with better players such as Suarez and we may yet see the benefits, but I certainly wouldn't make a decisive action on him based on a pre-season game, either good or bad, but yesterday's opposition was by far the toughest off the pre-season so far.
Still think he may yet be moved on in August if an acceptable offer comes in, (far too much talking in the media), although I would like to see him get a full season with us personally speaking.

Indeed, but what's most worrying is that there's 35m Carroll and 20m Henderson in there who don't seem to count as the 'better players'.

First half. I thought "Hendo" and "Beard" played second half?

                          Aye.

Not as good as he was in the first 2 games but in fairness he didn't have anybody decent around to link up with.

Not sure how true that is but I do think we need to be seeing a more settled back 4 (and ideally keeper - although obviously Reinas recovery might make that difficult).

I think it's unfair on Aqualani; he is the only player thus far, that has looked to make things happen. He's quick in possession, is happy carrying the ball forward and is giving his team mates a rollicking for not making a run. His passing has pretty much been spot on in every game and seems up for the physical side too. Whether that's because he's putting himself in the shop window, who knows.

Aqualani playing in the second half 'team' would have been more beneficial, although I do think we'll start seeing more of a line-up forming over the next few fixtures.
