Arsenal's Gervinho given three game ban after red card

Arsenal striker Gervinho has been banned for three matches following his sending off in the opening game of the season at Newcastle.

The Gunners had lodged an appeal that the standard three-match suspension for a straight red card was excessive.

But an FA commission dismissed the claim, meaning the Ivorian must serve the ban with immediate effect.

The 24-year-old will therefore miss matches against Liverpool, Manchester United and Swansea.

Carroll would cause them all sorts of aerial problems but we aren't Newcastle hoping to nick one from a set-piece, we are good enough to beat them at their own game, bring him on later with Henderson if need be

There was nothing wrong with the way Carroll or the team played (talking first half obviously). So no change other than fixing the right side:

To play against Arsenal's dodgy goalie and backline without Carroll would be the biggest dumbest decision Dalglish will have made in his tenure.

But 3 in the middle is essential surely? Especially away from home. Lucas and Adam could quite easily get overrun if Suarez is busy galivanting on the wings
