I thought that was an definite improvement on Sunderland. We were still workmanlike without being spectacular but it's early in the season with new signings to bed down, and it was away at Arsenal after all. I'm pleased that we looked to have way more zip in our legs than we did in what was a worryingly languid second half against the Mackems. And I think we chiselled out the bit of luck that swung it in the end.

I absolutely love Martin Kelly at right back. He's looked solid as a rock since getting his chance and if he had started last week then for me, Larsson's goal doesn't happen, simple as. Kenny has a real headache when GloJo is fit again because Enrique looks to be slotting in seamlessly on the other side too.

We're not exactly pulling up trees with our performances right now but we're solid and have a lot of encouraging platforms on which to build, and hopefully the curve will continue steadily upwards. We can't expect miracles.

Also, that away kit is class.

Great result, some very good performances, MOTM was a difficult one this week.

I know a few eyebrows were raised when Suarez was left out, but given that he's not had much rest over the summer I thought leaving him on the bench and bringing him on late in the game worked well and wil hopefully keep him fresh.

Enrique was fantastic, Kelly coming in at right back was the right decision and he too had a very good game.

Meireles had an impact from the bench which was good to see as, I hadn't been convinced he could be an effective sub, and I imagine he will be spending quite a bit of time on the bench (assuming he stays).

Great result for us yesterday - the back 4 with Enrique there just seems so much stronger and I think Johnson is going to have to work very, very hard to get back his position at RB if Kelly continues to play like that.

One the biggest thing to take from that though is we're actually in a position to have game changers coming on from the bench, I mean being able to start with Suarez and Merieles on the bench for 70 minutes is brilliant and when they came on the link up between the 2 was brilliant, we've now got some decent depth in the squad (could still do with more obviously) which is something we've not been able to say for years.

You are contradicting yourself. You think Carroll is plop and not worth 20m yet in the next sentence you say if it wasnt for vermon breath we'd be 2 or 3 up. Tell me who the **** kept carroll quiet today please? was it that spanish kid or was it your man of the match who saved arsenal from being 2 or 3 down at half time (plus a great save from the keeper)
I think personally history is repeating itself here. I remember the koptalk days of 2005-2006 when certain pricks slagged off crouchie and gave him so much **** in the forums. Think them same pricks have found another scapegoat and moved onto these forums. People like them ussualy have a tendency to look like complete tools in time. Wether it be 6 months, 12 months or 2 years, these words will come back to bite them on the arse.
I only wish I could remember the people who called for Lucas head on a platter 2 years ago so I could go back and pull them up on what they said. Just saying...........

Ahhh I forgot that Carroll was the only Liverpool player on the pitch. Good lord.

Vermaelen was excellent in their defence. He beat Carroll in the air repeatedly despite being 4 or 5 inches shorter. He snuffed out an awful lot. He was immense.

Sorry but Carroll is not a top drawer striker. When you look at his link up play he does not even look like a professional footballer and you cannot argue he is not fit. He is.
