    Fitz Hall.
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I agree though, it is a thoroughly stupid nickname.

The one that annoys me the most is non LFC - when people refer to Cesc Fabregas as Fibreglass.
Hahaha. I've never heard that one.... Fibreglass, thats stoopid.

It's not really nicknames so much as the altering of the players actual name that annoys me. Which I guess is kind of a nickname but still, you get the picture.

Craig Bellamy took pay cut to seal Liverpool FC return

Kenny Dalglish has revealed that Craig Bellamy took a pay cut to secure his Liverpool comeback.

The Wales international had been placed in a first-team exile by Manchester City, with their abundance of strikers making competition for starting places too close for comfort

But Bellamy accepted a deal lower than his previous £80,000-a-week wages at the Etihad Stadium to seal a return to his boyhood club on the close of the transfer window, eight days ago.

Dalglish also praised the 32-year-old front man's attitude after he made 'sacrifices' in order to to rejoin the ranks at Anfield following a four-year absence.

"He's really enthusiastic to be back and made a lot of sacrifices to come back here, financial and otherwise, because of what the club means to him," said the Kop boss.

"So we're delighted to have people with that attitude here."

He added: "I don't know why I've never signed him before in my managerial career.

"Maybe I wasn't working when he was available but he's always been someone that's impressed me.

"I think he's got pace, he's got quality, he loves this club which is very important and he'll be a fantastic asset for us."

Bellamy's previous spell with the Reds, in the 2006/07 season, is still remembered for allegedly attacking then team mate John Arne Riise with a golf club ahead of a Champions League tie.

The incident for the game against Barcelona, in which both players scored in a 2-1 victory, did little to dampen Bellamy's reputation as a volatile character.

But Dalglish insists that he would not want to dilute the veteran striker's personality.

He said: "I don't think it'll be a problem; he's given up golf!

"You wouldn't want to take the personality away from any players and it's amazing how people always focus on a bad side of somebody.

"They never really focus on the good sides - that doesn't make a good story.

"They just go on the bad bit and then they'll bring everything else up. They'll not talk about the fantastic goals, saves, challenges, whatever somebody would do.

"They just want to talk about the bad bit. So fortunately he's come to a club that doesn't want to do that. We want to concentrate on the good bits."

Liverpool icon Graeme Souness says their Craig Bellamy gamble could pay off - if the Welshman behaves.

Souness wrote in the Daily Star Sunday: "As Liverpool didn’t have to pay a fee for him, I can understand Kenny Dalglish taking him back to Anfield from Manchester City.

"But Craig is a difficult player to manage – as I discovered at Newcastle.

"At the end of his career maybe he’ll realise that he had too many fall-outs – and one of them was with me. I hope he can change and be a professional member of the squad.

"He was always ready to blame other people if something went wrong and he thinks he is a better player than he actually is.

"I’d like to think that one day he’ll look in the mirror and think, ‘Maybe I wasn’t right all of the time. Maybe it wasn’t always someone else’s fault’."

Had good 20 minutes yesterday. Some nice runs on the left, few decent crosses, linked up with Suarez on couple occasions nicely, almost scored the header etc.

Would like to see him play from the start as we looked very dangerous with him in the lineup.

Yeah I think he's earned a start next week, if he's fit enough that is.

We'll get pinned back in spells against Spurs aswell so he'd be a great outlet.

Done relatively OK with the time he had, although we were already pressing hard against a team not budging.
Nothing spectacular, but that was in very short supply yesterday to begin with.
Have to wait and see what happens during the week, but Spurs will be a bit more of a test than yesterday (which we failed).......think we may need to start with a tried and trusted unless Kenny sees something in training.
