How do people feel now? Without looking I think I voted for Suarez at the time. Now it's cut and dried IMO. While Torres was a goalscoring machine, Suarez just has so much more about him.

Whoever would've thought, back in 2007-2009, that we'd flog Nando and wind up with someone better.

Everyone who voted for Torres or 'can't decide' - have you changed your minds?
I know why you've bumped this Shaggy.

Er, you do? I don't. I was just a bit bored and got thinking about it.

Oh, I started a poll on ST last night so thought you had seen it on there. We think alike.

As and out and out goal scorer it's probably just Torres but as a footballer it's Suarez for me and by a fair distance, I've not seen the quality or style of football he produces from anyone at the club for a long, long time.

Torres in his first season got 24 league goals and in the 09/10 season got 18 league goals, Suarez has got 15 so far, he should go past the 18 goals and could potentially go past the 24 goals season from Torres as well.

I agree with the Barnes thing Shaggy said, Suarez plays more like Barnes, someone who can create something out of nothing and always a threat. Torres was lethal for a while and so exciting, even more exciting than Suarez at the moment for me, more like Barnes in that respect.

But Torres played in a better team in more exciting times so it's hard to compare the sensations I feel, let alone evaluate their very different strengths as players.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

              I still can't decide.

Torres was a clinical finisher for us, the best I have ever seen. His shots to goal ratio was phenomenal. He would frequently have 3 attempts on goal in a game but would get 1 or 2 goals. BUT Torres seems to only thrive in a team that's playing well and his mentality stinks.

Suarez on the other hand is a proper team player. Mentally I don't think there is anyone better than him. He never gives up. He gets more assists and now his goal scoring rate is up there with that of Torres. He still misses more shots than anyone in the league BUT most the chances he creates are down to his sheer brilliance. Suarez has proved he can do well at a struggling team. So who knows what level Suarez will reach if hopefully we become one of the top four teams in England. In terms of Technique in world football, I think there are probably only a couple of strikers better than him.

Torres was a lethal goalscorer but clearly Suarez is the better all round player. I'm gonna go with Suarez (but only just) as Torres has only had 3 seasons in his career where he has been truly outstanding. Suarez has been outstanding since his Ajax days and he is improving. The two of them could have been immense together but it just wasn't to be.

Thinking about it Torres leaving could be seen as the catalyst that ****ed up Kenny's time at the club. Had he stayed he would have been partnered by the incredible Suarez and Kenny would have had at least £50-60m that summer to reinforce the team further. I doubt he would have then gone for the likes of Downing or Adam because there was no big target man in our team to aim for.

Maybe, just maybe he would have gone for players with a bit more class instead. We will never know....

I have to agree with that. BUT Kenny would probably have still signed some other ****e players. But just imagine if that was the case and we had signed Mate - WOW. That's the only player he would have needed to sign.

I digress, but the 'one' we really should not have let slip was David Silva. He would have been absolutely the gamechanger we so often needed under Rafa.

This I will disagree on, well my opinion of course. I have never been a huge fan of Silva although he was good for City at the start of last season. Mata for me was always the better player of the two and I have been telling people for years when they asked me how good Silva was, I replied that Mata is much better than Silva. And he is proving it. He's quicker, as good a passer if not better, scores more goals and apparently he already has 18 assists in all competitions this season. Mata is an incredible talent.

Mata is better than Silva but say that to a City fan and he or she will likely start crying.

On Twitter earlier I said Johnson is better than Micah Richards, obviously, and some City fan got very upset

I said that when Mata came to the Premiership and people on here told me I was getting way ahead of myself and branded me a lunatic for thinking so. I know they both play in the same league now so it's easier to compare, but it's not just the City fans that think so

I think Suarez is the better player, but for some reason I 'liked' Torres much more
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

Suarez is a much more complete footballer than Torres. Torres just used to be an incredible finisher.

I loved the way Torres, when he first joined, was super shy and would never complain to the ref. He would just dust himself off and get on with it, like he was above it all. THAT Torres, is something or someone I just felt connected with, someone you could really idolise because of the way he carried himself on and off the pitch. He was a bit like a super-hero

Suarez is the better player but THAT Torres will always have a special place in my heart.
