Stoke wants to slow things down and Shawcross, Huth and Woodgate wouldn't have problems dealing with Carroll's physical and aerial abilities.

We need to keep the ball on the ground and explore their lack of pace at the back.

Suarez, Downing and Bellamy imo would do much more damage than Luis, Carroll and Downing for example.

        What's wrong with Henderson?

I read somewhere he'd been sent back to Liverpool ? I'll go and see if I can find the article

I thought that was just to give him a rest.

              My bad

KENNY DALGLISH has praised England Under-21s boss Stuart Pearce for his handling of Liverpool FC’s Jordan Henderson.

The Reds midfielder, who has been appointed captain by Pearce, played a starring role in last Thursday’s 6-0 thrashing of Azerbaijan.

However, rather than retain his services ahead of the under-21s’ friendly with Israel last night, Pearce sent him back to Melwood so he could start to prepare for the Reds’ trip to Stoke on Saturday.

“We’re very grateful for that gesture and it was very much appreciated,” Dalglish said.

“It was a good bit of common sense by Stuart Pearce. With it being a friendly he was going to look at a few other players so rather than keep Jordan with the squad he released him back to us.

“It’s important clubs and international managers work together – it’s all about building bridges.

“It was an intelligent decision and we thank him for that.

“Jordan did very well for the under-21s and we’ve been delighted with him as well.”

If Carroll starts it will be a feast of long balls.
                Are we winning?

I reckon we might go three at the back to nullify their aerial threat. Johnson and Enrique wing backs. Lucas, Downing, Suarez, Henderson/Kuyt and Carroll. Don't think it will be Adam's sort of game, as well as he's been playing.

I would think it is very possible especially if GJ is still a week or two away from full fitness.
