But what's wrong with taking photos on your phone whilst you are there? He seemed to imply this was wrong with his "you wouldn't take your phone into a church and start taking photos".

Actually, posts on this subject make me laugh. I've been going to Anfield since 1965 and there were similar debates going on then. There's nothing new under the sunOriginally posted by JinOur support has been going downhill for a long time, but we don't have to end up like the Prawn Sandwich brigade over at Old Toilet. Opposition players used to dread facing the Kop. Lets make Anfield a fortress again and restore the Kop back to how it was.
Enough of this "Easeh easeh, Who Are Ya" soccer AM bollocks. Thats small time ****e for small time clubs who don't have the history and culture and class us Kopites have. We have our own songs, and traditions. Plus we have wit and class, so we dont need some wank tv show to teach us what to ****ing sing. Enough of the ****ing jester hats and taking fotos during the match. As for the people who leave early...
Don't give people who stand up and try get songs going condescending and disinterested looks, join in (Unless of course they are singing the above, or any other small time chants.) I could go on and on... lets just begin by reeducating people about the Liverpool Way.
This isnt a superfan thing, or even a Scouser V OOT thing. Its about ensuring the values and traditions of the Club are preserved for the future. We are lucky to support the greatest club in the known universe. We're not just any club, we are Liverpool Football Club. Unite Redmen!

YNWA RTK
People never - but never - joined in chanting away from the Kop in those days, with the exception of short-lived activity at the Anfield Road end, which was largely allied to rying to bait opposition fans in pre-segregation, hooligan-infested days. Anyone trying to join in chants in the stands would have been considered extremely strange. It was also the norm for many fans to leave early - the Kemlyn Road stand denizens being the prime cuprits back then
So I can confidently predict that if fans' forums/fora still exist in 20 years time, we'll be having the same debate and this will be looked back on as a golden age in which to be a fan, when we gave proper support.

Eeeeeexactly.Originally posted by Rocketi think people who write stuff like this seem to forget is that they can easily go to Anfield 25-30 times a season.
others who go 1-5 times a season may want to take a few snaps.
He does make a lot of good points though, just found some of them to be slightly patronising.

I was actually talking mostly about the state of the Kop these days.

What load of bollox.
I agree with some of what he says in regard to getting back to traditions but some people just can't get over as often as people who live in England.
So what, they get a bit excited and take picture, blow it out your ****ing arse.
Cause thats where the club with be without all the OOT's on it's arse!!
I get over once mabye twice a season if I'm lucky, between flights, accomadtion and the conversion rate from euro magic beans to sterling it costs a ****ing mint.
Personally I don't take photos, but i did my 1st time and I not gonna listen to some **** rant on that someone who spends an arm and a leg to get to see their beloved reds is ruining it for all the locals because of a few ****ing photos!
Kiss the back end of my bollox!

I think maybe some of you are missing the point and focusing too much on the photos part.
Noones really gonna give a **** if you take a foto or two, but not the whole ****ing match when you could be supporting your side. I guess it was just a generalisation some (and I include myself) make about some of the stuff daytrippers do at a match.
I think the aims of RTK is very good, and i think some of you are taking it too personally thinking its another anti-OOT campaign when really its not. Its just an attempt to bring back some Kop values that are being eroded away somewhat.
If you read most the posts on that RAOTL thread, you'll find that its about education, OOT and Scousers are welcome as long as they continue the traditions and values

I know exactly how you feel. Some seasons I get over twice others maybe once or not at all. But I've been supporting Liverpool since 1965 with as much passion as any "In Towner". Talk like that makes me real mad. Locals can buy a season ticket for what one annual trip would cost me!Originally posted by King Kenny 07What load of bollox.

How would one propose this?Originally posted by puredaleHe's right in his main message though - new fans should be educated - we all have to learn the basic values of supporting our team.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Its a ****e post. Total crap, one of these posts saying look im the best supporter bollox.
We have to accept that we need all the support we can get, apart from last season, ive ben over twice a season since the early 90's (saving for a house, first time buyer in dublin
)
I take photos every time i go, also loose my voice every time i go from shouting. How can we expect every supporter to be at the same high level that the vast majority are, we cant.
Its also a different set of circumstances to when Shankly was about, when people had nothing better to do and lived for the match.
Id like to see a higher standard of vocal support at the games sometimes too but its hard, we cant all of a sudden just say, no, this family cant get in cos they wont be loud enough and take too many photos, or this couple coming all the way from china cant get it because they dont know what to sing, every club the size ours has this problem. and still we are louder than other teams with twice the capicity at their stadiums.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:

That post is superb!
The leaflet campaign is a great example too.
But the worst offence for me is being in the Kop and not singing. The phones and the cameras annoys the hell out of me, as does two tossers sat behind you talking about work and stock orders and deadlines and ****e while I'm trying to focus on the match.
But the worst offence is to sit in the Kop and keep yer gob shut.
We're outsung most weeks by a couple of hundred tossers who then sing "worst support we've ever seen".
Great post and well timed.
