Forest v Derby is a, er, derby. Only about 14 miles between them. It's a local derby. Nottingham to Leicester is about 25 miles.

Being a midlander you'd know this...

My missus is a derby fan, all she cares about is beating Forest.

Forest and Derby absolutely ****ing hate each other, there's always carnage at those games.

So is Liverpool v the scum a derby?

Derby County don't have a city rival like us or United - hence their derby is the nearest club; Forest.

                  I stand corrected

I studied in Loughborough so never really got too involved with Derby.

I took an absolute battering outside De Montford uni once thoug, so never been a huge fan of anything to do with Leicester.

                      It's a derby, it's Derby's derby.

                      I know it's Wiki but still. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Midlands_derby

The East Midlands derby is a sobriquet used to describe football matches held between Derby County and Nottingham Forest. Other pseudonyms used are The A52 derby and The Brian Clough Way derby, named after the main road running from Derby to Nottingham. The road provides views of both Pride Park Stadium and The City Ground in the respective cities.

Although the clubs are rivals due to their geographical proximity – the rivalry grew even more intense towards the late 1970s when Brian Clough was appointed Forest manager, much to the dismay of the Derby support. According to a survey on football rivalries it is the 11th fiercest rivalry in English football, with 9 out of 10 fans from both clubs pointing to the other as their fiercest rival
Both sets of fans see it as a derby. Forest fans see Derby as their derby, they mainly pity County; their paths hardly ever cross and the 'rivalry' is practically non-existent.

It's not the level of rivalry as that determines whether it's a derby. The stadiums are 18 miles apart so it's touch and go for me.
