Kenny Dalglish insists Liverpool will not rush Steven Gerrard back into action after reiterating that the skipper is making solid progress in his recovery from injury.
The Reds boss gave an update on the fitness of his squad ahead of Sunday's trip to Tottenham and revealed that Glen Johnson is the only player definitely ruled out of the contest.
Dalglish told his pre match press conference: "We've only got Glen Johnson (out) really. We are just waiting for some test results to come back. We'll take it on from there.
"Obviously Steven is progressing well. Martin Kelly is back in training too. Fabio (Aurelio) is also close to coming back and joining us."
Asked if the skipper would feature against Tottenham or Brighton in the Carling Cup, Dalglish added: "We'll pick and choose when is best for Steven. We'll decide which game suits him best. We'll analyse his progress like we do with everybody. We'll do the same for Martin Kelly.
"Everybody that is asked to play will be fit enough to play. We'll just wait and see - there is no rush. We've just got to use common sense."Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

For pace, yes.Originally posted by IN_RAFA_WE_TRUST View PostYes. Do u think bale would destroy him ?
Also, in an alien position, it's possible he could get caught out. I'm all for the added protection he gives to our right side, but we still need an orthodox defender behind him.
Skrtel and Kuyt could nullify Bale more so than Kuyt and Bellamy.
In my opinion of course.
