It's a myth that Lucas only plays side way passes, he plays as many forward passes as Adam, and has better pass completion stats.

Well that's the issue, the stats are based solely on the derby game at the weekend. Obviously Lucas and Gerrard have played together more, and have a better understanding of one another's game, that Lucas and Adam, perhaps in time Lucas will be more willing to get forward and allow Adam to play the holding role. At the moment the author of the piece is obviously looking at Adam's defensive weaknesses, as you say Lucas may trust him more when they have played together more, however I do think that this is an area of his game that Adam needs to improve.

Yup he does need to sort out his fitness and defensive role. If he can sort his fitness out that should automatically help his defensive game.

Moyes has had pretty much **** all to spend since he's been there so I don't agree in the slightest.

As far as Rafa goes, I believe he overachieved by a long way, the most expensive squad he had at anyone time was still the best part of £100m less than Utd or Chelsea's squad, yet idiots (fans and the media) expected him to be fighting for the title every year. He should still be here imo.

Even so, Moyes has had next to nothing, I don't know where you get this idea that he's had loads to spend??? Their fans still expect him to compete with us. Laughable.

The 'Moysiah' has broken their transfer record at least twice.

I'm no big fan of Adam but increasingly I err towards the position that the real problem is his partnership with Lucas (exacerbated by two non ball playing CBs behind them).

It could be possible to play Adam Gerrard and Lucas in the same team. I sense it would give a nice balance to the midfield. Lucas mostly playing the holding role and Adam spraying passes while Gerrard is given freedom to roam.

Enrique and Kelly are both adept at going forward to provide much needed width but the midfield trio would have to be disciplined enough to slot in a cover for them.

With Gerrard back now we'll soon start to see what Kenny's plans are for the middle of the park.

I think he will try to accommodate Gerrard, Lucas and Adam in the same team for every game, it's clear that Adam is one of his favorites so I can't see him being dropped.

Think he will eventually go for Lucas holding, Gerrard bang in the middle dictating play, Downing on the left, Kuyt or Henderson on the right, Adam in a sort of free role in front of Gerrard with Suarez on his own up front.

Or something along those lines. Adam could do more but he's not an out and out centre mid to be fair, he's too attack minded for that and the position he's playing in atm is not suited to his game.

He is not quick or strong enough to be playing as a sort of defensive mid which is probably why he keeps getting caught out.

He does try and make tackles but he's not a defensive or pure out and out centre mid.
